Uh-Oh

Immediately, Mom fell in love with Ellie. I was an only child who lived with only her, since dad left us years ago. My mom works late nights, so Ellie's home became a second home for me as well. Her mother, Terri, a creative woman, would always have us drawing, or painting, or doing something constructive, while her daddy, Matt, would take us fishing, and out to movies and things. He'd call Ellie his Sugar Plum. They loved me so much they invited me to every single family vacation, since Ellie needed to have me there, and my mom wouldn't ever be home.

There was even this once, when we had went down to South Carolina to visit their old family and friends, where Ellie convinced me to sneak out of the hotel room with her to meet these sexy older guys. We sneaked out of the room and into the lobby, through the doors and out to the pool to meet them. My guy, Todd, kissed me until my head spun, and my blood boiled inside of me. It was all so new to me, but I pumped the brakes when he tried to slide his hand up my shirt.

"Don't do that," I exclaimed, sliding his hand back down.

"Why?" he asked, his voice not that sweet, honey filled voice he'd given me earlier.

"I-I said no... so it's no. Doesn't matter why..."

He grabbed my wrist. "What are you? Some lousy tease? C'mere..."

I twisted free. "Get...OFF!" I shoved him hard into the water, and made a run for Ellie.

"Let's. Go. NOW." I said, pulling her away from her guy, Noah.

The guys called us some pretty bad names, but they didn't follow us, which was good.

Ellie died laughing. "Wow, that was fun. Why'd you run!?"

"SHHH!"

"I'm not being loud! But why?" She fake whispered.

I told her what Todd did. She stared at me.

"Don't you know if you kiss a guy, they expect more?" She asked, wide-eyed.

"Not without my permission, he won't." I frowned. "Have you done more?"

She laughed. "Please. I'm too much of a wimp for that. I'm too young anyways."

Ellie got out of her bed, and into mine, cuddling me and stroking my hair. "Besides, we'll never even see those college guys again."

I looked at her dejectedly. "You sure?"

She smiled at me, and offered her pinky. "I promise,"

I locked fingers with her.

"Besides," She whispered. "Who wants to be with a girl who almost drowns him?"

We both started kicking and cackling like tickled witches.

Then we both drifted to sleep.
