That night I blew up Ellie's phone a billion times. I couldn't sleep or eat until everything was right with us.Finally, though, my mother made me take sleeping pills at 2 am. As I was waiting for them to work, I got a phone call. The worst one I'd probably ever get.
"Helloooooo." I yawned.
"Katalia!?" A voice screamed.
"Woah, who's this?"
"It's Jane...Ellie's mom?"
"Hi Mrs. Summers, what's up?" I said, slowly feeling sleepy.
"Kat, is Ellie over there? It's 2am. She hasn't come home yet!" She panicked.
"She left my house round 8. She's mad at me." I said drunkly, the medicine finally working.
"Kat. Where is Ellie?!"
Before I could tell her I don't know, I fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning feeling kinda good. I figured that whole thing about Ellie being lesbian and wanting to be with me was a dream. A bad one, if she never came home. I tried to call her so that I could laugh about this with her, but she didn't answer. Weird.
I called Stan who picked up on the first ring.
"Kat," He breathed.
"Hey babe."
"Kat," he repeated. "I'm coming to pick you up right now. We have to go to the hospital."
I yawned. "Why?"
"Kat, there's been an accident....Ellie, she was driving on some country road at 2am and she was apparently crying and swerving and she hit a tree." Stan said sadly.
I don't remember anything after I dropped the iPhone on my bedroom floor and it cracked in a million pieces.
