Demi
"So I was thinking along the lines of ladadadadee, you're not shaking me, ladadadadaaa, unbreakable smile. What do you think of that?"
Tori looked over at me while she sat around the kitchen island, strumming her guitar. I was currently in the middle of getting us some dinner and she was getting me to help her with a new song she was tackling.
"Uh, it's good. I'm not sure of the feel you're going for. Are you trying to give that uplifting vibe?.."
She nodded at my question, pausing her strumming for a while.
"...well that's a good start."
She nodded once again and continued strumming, experimenting with some tunes and melodies. I allowed her to find her muse as I continued preparing our dinner. After a few minutes, I heard her groan out of frustration.
"I just can't get this down. Fuck it..."
She threw her pencil down in the kitchen island and looked over at me causing me to stare right back at her.
"....it's kinda hard to write a song when there's a hottie right in front of me making dinner."
She smirked and wiggled her eyebrows at me. I couldn't help but chuckle at how absurd she looked.
"That has got to be the corniest shit you've ever said."
I chuckled and moved over to where she was after turning the stove off.
"But the ladies like it."
She countered while pulling me to sit in her lap.
"I beg to differ."
I chuckled as she tickled my side. It was crazy how crazy our relationship developed. What started out as an artistic connection grew into a romantic bond. What I was also grateful for was how similar to Jessica she was. From not so obvious things like the way she smirked when she was teasing me to obvious things like her hair, she was the perfect person to help me move on.
"I'm hungry as shit."
She finally blurted out and I smiled and went to share our food. In the meantime, Tori disappeared into the living room and I heard her turn the TV on, scrolling through channels. Not too long, I heard the sound of the television set being replaced by a song I knew all too well.
"I could lose my heart tonight
If you don't turn and walk away
'Cause the way I feel I might
Lose control and let you stay
'Cause I could take you in my arms
And never let go..."My mind couldn't help but wander to the time that song took on a whole new meaning in my life: The first time I made love to Jessica. The day I further proved to myself why I only felt complete when I'm with her.
"Listen to this..."
Jessica commanded as she started playing a song from her phone. The excited look on her face and the expected gyration made me more than aware that she was playing dancehall music.
"...see, I'm Jamaican so I know Jamaican music. You couldn't name one Spanish song or one Latin artist to save your life."
