Today was the day I am going to show Kristin where I live. The first person to see from school.I had invited her over Sunday morning for Dinner with my grandma. My grandma as very ready to meet her. My stomach was in a twist when the doorbell rang at 5:30. I walk over and open the door. She hair was curled and pinned out of her face she had black leggings on with a maroon sweater dress that was just passed her butt. She also had on black dressy boots with a bit of a 3 inch heel. A black purse hangs from her shoulder. I felt as if I was going to pass out. She had light makeup on also. My grandma almost runs to the door.
"Nice to meet you Kristin. I'm Mary-Ann John's grandma."
"Nice to meet you too." Kristin hugs her. I have to hold myself up holding on to the doorknob.
"I hope you like spaghetti!" My grandma says walking into our small kitchen.
"Of course." Kristin smiles.
"Here you can sit your stuff down in my room." I say walking down the hall. The blood pumps hard in my veils. Wait did I pick my boxers off my floor. I open my door. Thank god. I spent all day cleaning my room. Kristin sits her purse and jacket on my bed. I bite my lip.
"Well you look, um, nice." I say rubbing my neck.
"You do too." She says.
"I have on jeans and a football jersey on? How is that looking nice?" I say.
"I don't know you always look nice to me." She smiles. Finally my grandma calls us in for dinner. I pull out a chair for Kristin and she sits down. I grab three plates and sit one in front of each seat. I grab the bowl spaghetti and sit it on the table. We let Kristin go first and once we have our food we do a prayer. I hold Kristin's hand and my grandma's. Grandma does the prayer and we start eating. It was small talk and a few laughs here and there till a statement comes up.
"My parents have been wanting to move to Iowa for a few years and they finally found a house." She says. I drop my fork. "We are moving in less than a month."
Finally Kristin and I help clean up and go into my room. We sit around and play video games. I cant help but laugh at her when she gets frustrated. Finally her dad calls saying she needs to get home. She hugs and says goodbye to my grandma. I walk her out to her car and a lite rain starts. I hug her and she gets in her car. I watch as she drives away. I walk up the the apartment and once I close the doors my grandma looks at me from her chair.
"Was she joking about her moving?" She asks. I shake my head. "I'm sorry sweetie, but don't get upset now. Make these next few weeks together memorial."
"How can I do that when I won't even ask her out?"
"Honey I see the way you look at her. Now go get her." She points at the door. I run out of the building and down the street. Its pouring now. I run till I get there. My hair wet and messed up and I'm soaked. I bang on the door. She opens it. She looks at me shocked. "Why are-" I smash my lips into hers. I wrap my arms around her waist pulling her into the pouring rain with me. I break us apart.
"I'm making these weeks the best time in your life." I whisper.
"Don't let me go." She says looking at me."I won't." I kiss her again. I spin her around in the grass. I finally ask her out.
"I love you Kristin Jackson."
"I love you too John Brady."
