CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR:

When I woke up, it was almost noon. Mom was out running errands, and Jacob was not home either. He was never home. I prepared a large breakfast for myself. I was starving. While I ate alone, my mind began to wonder. I remembered that Michael had told me that he had been wanting to get into a band, but could not find committed band members. I remembered saying that I could help with the formation of his band, and since I had nothing else to do that day, I pulled out my cellphone.

Scrolling through my contact list, I started thinking of people I knew who could play instruments well. There were so many people going through my mind, but most of them were guitarists. I could find him a drummer and a bass player, seeing as he could play guitar. But I thought of the number of good bands that had two guitarists. It wasn't my decision to make whether his band had one or two guitarists, anyway.

After thinking for a while longer, I thought of my ex boyfriend, Luke. He played guitar, and could sing really well. I wasn't sure of Michael's vocals. I hadn't heard him sing before. I clicked on Luke's name, pleased that I had not deleted his number after we had broken up.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Hey, Luke. It's Alex." I said.

"Woah, Alex Reid is calling me?"

"Shut up. How have you been doing?" I asked.

"Pretty good. Question is, why are you calling? Do you miss me?"

"Yeah, Luke, I totally miss you." I joked. Our break up wasn't bad. We just realised that we really didn't like each other as much as we thought we did. Our split was a unanimous decision.

"Okay, for real, why are you calling?" He questioned.

"Do you still play?" I asked, getting straight to the point.

"Play what? Guitar?"

"Yeah."

"Of course I still play."

"Are you in a band or anything right now?"

"No. Where is this going?"

"My boyfriend, Michael, he's been looking for some band mates. He plays really well."

"Trying to get your ex and your boyfriend in a band together?" Luke asked, chuckling to himself.

"It's not about that. I'm really trying to help him out. You too, because I remember how badly you've been wanting to get into a band."

"You got anyone else?" He asked.

"Not yet. You're the first person I've called." I said.

"So, lets say I agree to this. When do we meet up?"

"Once I've put together the entire band." I responded. He was silent for a while. "I know you're going to agree, anyway. Quit stalling."

"Okay, fine. I'm in." He finally said. "You sure he plays well, or are you just saying that because he's your boyfriend?"

"Do you know who you're talking to? If he was shit, I would have said so." I said, and Luke laughed.

"Okay, okay. Who else do you have in mind for this band?" He asked.

"I dunno. I was thinking of calling Jesse. Do you know if he still plays bass?"

"Nah. His dad smashed his guitar a while ago. Shipped him off to boarding school somewhere." Luke explained.

"Well, thats fucked up. What about Kyle?"

"I think he still plays." He said.

"But Brad hates Kyle's guts. Don't really want to piss him off by hanging around with Kyle."
