As a kid, it was times like these, me sitting alone in my room even for the smallest amount of time, that made my skin crawl.

I hated being alone. I hated that no one could hear the ridiculous and amazing things I had to to say. I hated not having a friend.

Now, it's times like these, me sitting alone in my room for hours, days even, without anyone to talk to, that bring me peace. I love being alone. I love how the air seems so much clear when I am alone in my place of solitude.

I love the quiet of everything. I finally get a chance to hear myself think without others barging their unwanted ideas into my head. When I'm isolated away from everyone, I'm not always alone. No, that's when the real me comes to visit.

That's when the little girl who had so much to say, and nobody to listen, tells me all her greatest stories.
