I walk outside the den and breath in the crisp morning air. A cream colored she-cat comes up to me. "Hey, its time for training. Flowertail is waiting." I follow her. "So where exactly are we going um." I stop short. "Creampaw and we are going to the training hollow where our mentors are waiting for us." She says.

Creampaw takes me to a little hollow in the tree where, like she said, our mentors are waiting. I see 3 cats. It looks like one she-cat and two males. I notice Flowertail and run to her. "Sorry i'm late Flowertail. First day and all." I say. She laughs. "Its OK. Just be sure to be on time from now on. We wild cats are on high alert from Sunrise to Moonrise. You never know whats going to happen." She says this with wisdom and I take note of her words. "Ok apprentices, we have a new comer, Sapphirepaw, who will be joining us. Treat her with respect and make her feel welcome. I am Silverwing, Creampaw's mentor and then this is Antstorm, Lightningpaw and Mistpaw's mentor. There are others but they are working in camp today." Silverwing says. I look over at Mistpaw who is glaring at me. As soon as she sees me, she turns away.
Whats wrong with her? My stomach does a flip-flop.

"Ok let's get started." Flowertail says. "Attack me as best you can. Don't worry about hurting me. Pretend i'm the enemy." I crouch down remembering the way mother did it. I jump up in the air, try to land on Flowertail but she moves out of the way before I land. "Way too predictable." She tells me. "Try again."

This time I go for a straight shot at her. I run as fast and as hard as I can. Of course, she moves again swiping me ear with her paw. "Lets try something else." She says. She pins me down. "Lets say I have pinned you down as so. What can you do to get me off of you?" Not even thinking, I kick her stomach but she doesn't budge. "Harder. Kick as hard as you can." I glance over my shoulder. There sits Dropstar, just like he said he would. Focusing back on Flowertail, I put all my strength in my limbs and I kick with all my might and she is knocked off, but not far enough. "Your getting better for a kittypet, Sapphirepaw." Flowertail says. She rubs her muzzle to my flank" I am not a kittypet!" I complain and step away from her. A few seconds pass when finally Silverwing says something. "Ok apprentices come get in a line." He calls. I trot over and join them all at the line.

His eyes are filled with approval. "You all did a great job today with your training." He meows. He pauses for a few moments. "There also needs to be a lot of improvement for some of you." Flowertail adds looking at me. "Why don't you guys go and see what you needed for back at camp." Antstorm meows. We all look at each other. There was a long silence."Ok, you guys can go now." Flowertail purrs.

I walk back to camp with Creampaw.
"I saw you fighting today." I say. "Your a natural." I purr. "Thanks. I want to be just as good as Dropstar. Have you ever seen him fight? He is like a beast." She meows excited. I stare straight ahead, not saying anything. "Lets go visit the queens." Creampaw meows, breaking the silence and heading over to the nursery. "They really want to meet you. Especially my mother." She purrs. A look of shock passes over my face. "Are they nice?" I ask. "What are you mouse-brained? Of course they are nice! They are mothers." She says.
She opens the entrance and we slide in.

"Hello, mother." Creampaw says to a brownish queen. They touch noses. "How are the kits?" She asks. "Just fine, dear. Is this Sapphirepaw?" Her mother asks. "Yeah, that's me. Nice to meet you..." I trail off. "Clovertail." She says. "Nice to meet you Clovertail. What beautiful kits you have." I add. Clovertail nods in approval. "Well mother we better go." Creampaw says, interrupting me "I will come visit you later. Bye" Creampaw touches noses with her mother and we slip out of the nursery. "But we just got here." I say as we walk to the fresh kill pile. "You don't wanna stay in there for too long." Creampaw says.
