Chapter 14: Choices

The others peered around my shoulders to get a clear look at my face.

"What?" I shot them annoyed looks.

"Nothing." Bortho's eyes widened.

"You seem to be taking it pretty well." Nathan mused.

Taking what well?!

Argo's lips pursed amusedly as he glanced back at me. "You don't get it, do you?"

"Get what?" I huffed, "You just cursed instead of answering me!"

"No, he answered you." The fifth and final being smirked.

"Cursing is not an answer to Where are we?."

"It is if that's where you are." Argo muttered and swiveled his head back on straight.  He wouldn't elaborate. Not once did he give in to my stream of damnations and pleas. No, Argo remained as silent as a grave stone.

"You know that's not possible, right?" I huffed as a set of double doors loomed into view twenty minutes later, "Hell isn't a real place-"

"Than what's that make us?" Nathan lightly jabbed the most silent companion in the ribs.

"Nonexistent." Came the reply.

"Look, I know vampires exist, but Hell? Come on!" I stopped following Argo. "I am not moving until you tell me exactly where we are! Who the hell are you guys?!"

He turned, his brows raised. "You really want to know?"

"Yes."

"Hell."

"Stop it!"

"But then I'd be lying and, Arbella, I am not a liar." A smirk made its way across his face. "You are in the bowels of Hell itself."

"I don't believe you."

"Than you're lying to yourself. Where else could you possibly be?"

No answer came to mind. Arms now crossed, I glared at Argo.

I was really starting to hate people other than vampires. Well, others other than Vlad and Victoria, that is. At least they would be deadpan honest with me. I hope.

-------------------------------------------------------Victoria's POV--------------------------------------------------------

I sat in a cushioned chair and kept letting my fingers comb through Maria's hair. It was so soft and smelled really nice. She provided a distraction for me. Her small body curled on top of my lap while she slept. If not for her, than I don't think I'd still be here.

Another sickly snap. Damien's wail. The flow of hot blood seeping thorugh the door's many cracks and taunting me.

Can you stop now? I irritably inquired of my menacing sibling.

No. I'm not leaving here until he tells me where she is!

But what if she isn't here?

I already know she's not! His snarl echoed in my head at his fury. But he knows and he's going to tell me if it's the last thing he ever does!

And if he dies? My head was throbbing horribly thanks to him. With my free hand, I rubbed a temple.

Vlad thought about the aspect for a few seconds. Then: He'll give me the information before then. I'll make sure of it. Then, all mental communication was blocked from his mind. I sighed.
