Chapter 15: Hell

"I swear, Victoria, you are so damn dense sometimes!" I complained while flitting around trees and smaller forms of plant life in my way.

"You weren't being the clearest in your subtle attempts." She muttered while keeping pace with me, "Besides, how was I supposed to know that you didn't want to tell Azzurcco of where we were going? You know he's our-"

"Say it and I'll rip your head of right here, right now." I spat.

She sighed shakily and tried to hide the draining of color in her face. "But it's true."

"I don't care. Never bring that up, you hear me?"

"Aye-aye, Captain Asshole."

I barked out a laugh.

"Will you tell me where the fuck we're going?!" Victoria, my ever so innocent sibling, was getting pissed at me.

"Oooh, cursing, Victoria? How unlike you!" I grinned.

"Tell me right now where the fuck we're going or I'll leave your ass right now!"

"Sure." I grinned but didn't say anything else. After a few minutes, she got the hint.

"Prick."

"Such devotion!" I chortled. She never left.

-----------------------------------------------------Azzurcco's POV--------------------------------------------------------

I couldn't really say what it was that made me cave in to little Maria. Maybe it was her innocence. Or perhaps her fear. Heck, maybe I was just becoming the soft marshmallow Vlad always made me sound like.

God I hated him.

While I brooded in my inner dark world, Maria Drokaslov peered up at me. "What are you thinking?"

"Nothing." The response was automatic.

"Liar. You're steaming with anger."

I blinked once to look at her clearly, emptying my mind of the wretched place that often plagued me. Her tiny, angelic face was set into a frown. "Yes, I'm angry."

"Why?" That had to be the most annoying question ever.

"Because." The most annoying question deserved to be thumped with the most annoying answer ever.

Little Maria scowled. "You're nothing but a coward! You hide away what you really feel in that empty head of yours. Even your hatred for Prince Vladimir is tucked away in there; it's all that drives you. There's no purpose in your life other than to try and make him suffer!" I winced at her accuracy and stopped running. We were halfway to the castle by now. Still, she continued while joining me in the still air, "He may be mean at times, but he knows what he's doing! The prince doesn't just destroy things without a reason that doesn't always involve him-there's always a hidden reason for others at what he does. You, on the other hand, have no cause for your actions other than your rage for him! You're a spineless being that doesn't deserve to be here! Why are you even in the Marona Castle?!"

She cut me deep with her words. I swallowed audibly, "It's all I have left." Maria's face softened a bit. So, she thought Vlad's intentions weren't selfish, huh? I knew better. I knew how twisted his mind trully was. Before that human girl, he'd had no contempt for anyone other than himself. Now, though, he was still the greedy bastard that I knew and loathed, except now his reasonings included her! And still those reasonings would revolve around him! With every word I spoke, my voice grew clearer and stronger, my anger fueling my words, "And I'm not going to lose it because of Vladimir. That prick takes whatever he wants! What do I get? Nothing! Every single day I'm deprived of the knowledge I need about what I am, my family-all because of him!"
