Chapter 4
I had known Matt for 3 weeks and I was growing very fond of him. He invited me on a date almost every day. After school or during our lunch hour. Even though we went to different schools, we weren’t that far away from each other. I had been sent to detention at least 3 times a week because I received texts or calls from Matt on class. Considering this was our last year at school, getting detention almost every day was not very good.
I got to school and Will and I wondered to our ‘spot’. There we found The Gang. The Gang included Isabelle, Emma, Dakota, Hayden and Connor.
“Hey guys, how have you been? And how’s Matt?” Dakota asked after we had received hugs from everyone.
“We’re fine and Matt is... yeah, Matt is great.” I smiled like I did every time I spoke about him. Dakota and Isabelle shared a look. I’m not quite sure what the look meant but there was definatly a look.
“Can I talk to you in private, Soph?” Isabelle asked with a goofy grin on her face. The same type of grin that I wore the morning Matt asked me out. I nodded and she dragged my off to a quiet area. “Soph, you so love him.” She said as I felt my mouth drop open. Was it that obvious? I mean, I knew I did but I didn’t think 3 weeks was long enough to fall in love with someone. Plus, with my boy history, love isn’t really in my vocabulary.
I was brought back to reality by Isabelle all but screaming my name.
“Go off into fairy land, much!” She giggled.
“Don’t you think 3 weeks isn’t long enough to fall in love?” I suddenly felt extremely nervous. I wonder if he felt the same. I bloody hope he did!
“It doesn’t matter how long it takes, it’s who you fall for. And from what I’ve heard of him and the one time I met him, it seems you’ve fallen for the right guy. He’s perfect for you.” Isabelle stated. She was normally absolutely crazy in a yell-hello-to-the-teachers-way. She’s always so hyped up sometimes it’s not even funny. But when she wants to be she can be the most awesome, non-crazy friend with brilliant advice. We wondered back over to find the others chatting. Connor and Emma cuddled up together as always. They had to be the cutest couple of the year.
“So,” Will said, “You’re in love with Matt then.” Her eyes were filled with tears. “My little girl is growing up.” At this point she could only whisper and the tears were about to run down her face.
“Aww, Will, don’t cry. It’ll ruin your makeup. And yes, I think I am-” I was cut off by Will hugging me. I could hear her sob. “Damn, Willow. You’re hopeless. And you’re going to get mascara on my new top.” I grinned again. Matt bought me that top. It was yellow and had written I’m with stoopid.
“I’m sorry. I’m going to the bathroom to redo my makeup.” Everyone giggled at her, having seen her little display. We all started chatting again and after about 5 minutes the bell for homeroom went. We said our goodbyes and I slowly wondered to homeroom knowing my teacher was going to be late anyone. On the way there I turned my phone onto silent like the smart cookie I am.
When I got to homeroom Mr. Leorz had just opened the door so I wondered in and took a seat. He called the roll and then we split off into our groups. My phone vibrated in my pocket. I discretely pulled it out and opened the new message.
*hey bumblebee, pik u up after skool. Need to tell u sumthin xx*
Dakota, who happened to be in my homeroom class, shook her head at me.
“You, my friend, never have any free time anymore! I was planning to take you shopping this arvo.”
“And when were you planning on telling my about this surprise shopping trip that I didn’t even know about? You really are turning into Connor.” I said giggling. Connor had this habit not to tell anyone about something that we are all doing until the day. So, he would secretly arrange to go the movies on the Saturday and tell us about it on the Friday afternoon! He really was hopeless.
