Rose's point of view (Just under a month after Bad Wolf Bay)

The silence around me did nothing to mask the screaming of my thoughts. They all rattled around inside my head, trying to escape. The last four weeks or so consisted of me waking up, eating, then going and sitting near the beach, staring at the spot where he stood, hoping that he'd come back. I stayed sat in one position from sunrise until sunset, until my mother told me to come back. We kept near the beach in case he came back, but after the first few days, we all lost hope. It was just a routine for me, something that kept my mind distracted, and gave me something to do, a purpose. It helped at first, loosing myself in the ocean, but after a while, my thought broke through the barrier I'd made. I spent most nights locked in my tacky hotel room, crying myself to sleep, then crying more when I woke up, and realized my dreams weren't real. He didn't call out to me any more, and I knew that he was gone, but I still couldn't accept it. Every fiber of my being wanted him, no, needed him there with me, but no matter how hard I sobbed, or screamed, nothing happened.

"Rose." My mother stood in the doorway, giving me a sad smile. "We called you several times." She sat down next to me, watching the waves roll up the beach.

"Sorry. Phone must have died." I looked down at my shoes.

"We're all packed up love. It's time to go." She placed a hand on my shoulder, and I looked up at her, tears stinging the backs of my eyes.

"I don't want to. I know it's stupid but... I can't help thinking that he'll come back. I know it's been a month since he was here, and over two since I was actually with him, but I... I don't want to give up." I stood up, tears already falling.

"Oh sweetheart," She pulled me into a hug, and I buried my head in the crook of her neck, like I did when I was little. "I know you want to stay, but it's making you feel worse. You're hardly eating, you're tired all the time, it's not good for you, being here."

"But mum! I'm gonna feel like that wherever we are!" I pulled away from her.

"Come on darling." She placed a hand on my back, and led me to Dad's jeep.

It took just under four hours to reach the dock in Sandefjord. We planned on getting the ferry from Norway to Denmark, then driving to Calais, and getting another ferry back to England. The boat ride from Norway made me feel sicker then usual, resulting in me staying close to the bathroom. Once back on dry land, I felt a lot better. We stopped overnight in a small hotel, before hitting the road again in the morning. After passing through several tolls, and making quite a few stops to use the toilet, and buy something to eat, we made it to Calais at around nine pm. I'd spent most of the car journey asleep, or playing with the hem of my t-shirt without realizing. We boarded the ferry, and went to out cabins. Me and Mickey were sharing, and so were my mum and dad. Mickey took my bag for me, and placed it on one of the two single beds in the room.

"I'm going to get something to eat." He said. "Do you want to come? If not I can bring you something."

"I'll stay here, thanks."

"I'll get you a ham sandwich and a drink." he smiled, before leaving.

I laid down on my bed, kicking my shoes off. A dim yellow light hung from the ceiling, and the floor was a grey carpet. My fingers fiddled with the hem of my shirt. I pulled it up slowly, and stared at my stomach. It was slightly bigger, and the skin was firmer then before. I placed my hands over it, and felt my eyes cloud over with tears once more. I pictured how it could have been, the three of us together, living as normal a life as we could. Travelling to new planets. Seeing births and deaths of galaxies. Everything that it should have been. I pulled the hem of my shirt back down, and rolled over, sobbing into the hard pillow.

Mickey came back a while later, and sat with me until the shaky breaths turned slower, and the downpour of tears turned into a light trickle. We stayed like this for a while, until there was a knock at the door. Mickey stood and opened it, letting in my dad.

"We'll be back in England soon." He sat on the end of my bed, and I sat up, giving him more room. "You feeling alright darlin'?" I nodded in response. "When we're off this ferry, you can sleep in the car if you want. I'm driving us home straight away, rather then stay in a hotel and head back in the morning." I wiped my eyes, then the four of us headed to the car.

Once we were off the boat, it was twenty past eleven. The four of us sat in a comfortable silence as dad drove us back home. The dim lights at regular points along the motorway cast an orange glow inside the car, and the clear sky was decorated with hundreds of tiny stars. I closed my eyes, and let sleep claim me.

AUTHORS NOTE!!!

I'm sorry that this chapter is shorter than usual, and that it isn't as descriptive. This was really just a filler chapter to get Rose back home, and has been quite vague. The next chapter shall be longer and more detailed
