It's been two days since we arrived and I have become more acquainted in the new area. I have befriended two people, the book store owner and cafe manager from the bookstore but that's it! But I know my way around town. And by town, I mean the trail my family runs and the route to the grocery store.

Yay me!

On a more interesting note today is my first day at the new highschool. I'm hoping since it's the first day for all students that I can just blend in. It's not like they can smell me out.

I don't have a problem with school, it's just the thought of being somewhere where everyone knows each other that is off putting. I just don't want to go through that awkward moment. Other than that I can't help but feel good about today like something positive is going to happen.

My mom has so graciously offered to drive me to school this morning even after I declined her breakfast. Which is surprising because usually if someone doesn't eat something offered to them by my mother she will take it as a personal jab at her character and will proceed to avoid that person because she thinks they hate her. But she understands my reasoning, that my stomach is already full of butterflies, so she didn't push it.

"So you know what you have to do right? Have everything you need?" She begins to ramble.

Here we go.

"Money for lunch? Do you know where to get your-"

"Mom relax. You're acting more nervous than me." I joke, but I can hear how she forces a laugh.

"I know, I know I just want you to love this place." She explains her voice cracking towards the end.

I can tell she is starting to get emotional so I cut in "I'll be fine and from all the stories you've told me everyone seems friendly. Don't worry about me and tell dad the same." I try to reassure her.

My parents have always been very protective of me so this isn't anything new. They just don't want me to be isolated or hurt in any way, which is understandable being as I am their only child. Even if i was lonely here(something in my gut tells me I won't be) I wouldn't want to ruin this fresh start for them. It's a new beginning for me too so I feel confident in what is to come. I can do this I just have to be myself!

Woah! Where did that come from Amelia?

I have no clue! I just become all positive randomly.

"Amelia?" my moms voice brings me out of my thoughts.

"Hmm? " I dumbly reply. I must be making her even more worried! "Uh, yeah?" I mutter trying to act normal and cover up my mistake by looking at her with a smile on my face.

"We're here."

"Oh okay, thanks for the drive. Love you mom! Drive safely!" I shout as I climb out of the car hoping to get out of the way of other cars before get impatient and try to run me over.

Don't need to be making new enemies!

I'm just being a little dramatic...

"Oh and have fun!", I holler over my shoulder after hearing a quick I love you!, in response remembering the lunch her and dad planned with some old friends.

She doesn't reply but I can see her Kia Soul pulling out of the parking lot.

"Let's get this party started!" I think optimistically as I make my way to the office.
