Mate

Chapter 8

Andrew's POV

Once I get in the car I lean back in the seat, run my hands through my hair, and let out a long breath. Today has been an eventful day.

I found my soulmate. My beautiful mate. With her reddish-brown hair and large dark green eyes it's no doubt she is Sarah and David's daughter. She's everything I could ever want and more, her laugh is amazing and her smile just makes me want to smile too.

"So you found our Luna?" Lucas looks back at me through the rear view mirror with a knowing smile.

"Yeah" I say in a far away voice, thinking about her eyes when she smiles. How they seem to get brighter or how she reacts to our bond.

"Hey! No zoning out! We want to know everything. Like what happened between you two while we were gone." Amber demands.

I'm not surprised by the eagerness, I mean this is Amber. Plus this is their Luna, someone all pack members hold a special relationship with. If this were someone else however, they probably would have been reprimanded for talking to their future alpha like that.

"How does it feel man?" Lucas questions.

"Amazing. I mean I don't know how it's suppose to feel but I feel like I've known her already."

"Even if she is human?" Amber asks.

"Of course! She's already reacting to the bond which is a good sign." I try to erase away my annoyance from her question. It's not unusual for werewolves to have a human mate. The moon goddess puts you with your perfect match regardless on whether they are human or werewolf. Granted it takes more time for a human to accept the bond of the mate, but the couple will have the same relationship of werewolf mates including the werewolf gene being passed on.

Amelia reacts to me as if she was one of us which is uncommon in a human mate but I'm not complaining. I love when she gets flustered or her heart races and knowing I am the cause is even better.

"Why, do you mind? Her being a human I mean?" I say wanting to know how they feel about their Luna. My Luna.

"Of course not!" They exclaim at the same time. They both look appalled by my question, which makes me chuckle.

"I could tell from the moment I met her she would be something special. Like I felt the need to protect her you know?" Amber justifies.

"Yeah I know what you mean. That's why I went up to her, to make sure she wouldn't befriend the wrong people." I know when Lucas says "wrong people" he means anyone who isn't the three of us. The majority of this towns population may be a part of our pack but the four of us are destined to be close.

"Thank you Lucas. I appreciate it. You  too Amber, you two made her feel welcome."

"Of course and then when she first saw you it was like I could feel the connection that formed."

"I thought I was the only one! Did you feel a little stronger, too?" Lucas says keeping his eyes on the road as he turns a corner.

My eyebrows furrow at this. I have never heard of that reaction happening when the Alphas of a pack meet for the first time.

"Hopefully the rest of the pack feels the same."

"Oh gosh, I'm so excited! She's great and just as weird as me so we will be the best of friends!" Amber screeches from her seat.

"How are you going to tell her?" Lucas stays on topic while Amber begins to rant about all the things her and Amelia will do together.
