Beep! Beep! Beep!
I slammed my hand over snooze.
School would just have to wait.
I didn't want to get out of bed.
Ever.
In my dreams, I saw the boy. There was something off about him. There was no wolf scent on him. It was strange. But, he was in my dreams, going into my treehouse again. And there was Fletcher. He saw me with my mate, and he left me. I had woken up at that part of the dream.
Now I stood up and threw on some clothes for school. I hated Monday's.
I made my way down the stairs and pocket up my dark blue backpack sitting by the door. My parents had left for work so I grabbed an apple and took my car keys off of the key holder.
It was raining outside so I grabbed my coat.I started my car and pulled out of the driveway slowly, stopping as I saw someone in the mirror, one of the new neighbors. Someone was trying to fix their tire in the rain. As he looked up in frustration I saw him. It was the boy from yesterday. And his hand was bleeding.
I parked the car and flung myself out of it, making my way quickly to the boy. He looked up at me, gritting his teeth and cradling his bleeding hand.
"What happened?" I asked him.
"My car ran over some glass, the tire cut and when I tried to pick out the glass I cut myself." The guy sighed. "Now my car doesn't work."
I extended my hand to him. "First I'm putting something on that hand of yours and then I can give you a drive to school.""Really? You'd do that?" The boy asked as he extended his uninjured hand and I helped him up.
"Absolutely. Where are you going?" I asked him as we walked towards my house.
"Well, I'm new to this area so I'm going to a new school. Ever heard of Copperfield Academy?"
I looked at him, surprised. "Well this will be a lot easier. That's where I go."
He grinned as we reached my front door.I unlocked it and we walked in. "You sit on the couch while I go get some bandages," I told him. He nodded and sat down.
I ran to the bathroom and grabbed a bag of bandages and a tube of antibiotic gel.
I walked back out to the living area and sat down next to the boy. "Hold out your hand," I instructed. He obeyed and fixed his eyes on me as I applied the gel gently."I never got your name," the guy said.
"Jade Noble," I say without looking up. "You?"
"Andrew Carter. Everyone I know calls me Drew, though."
"I'll make a note of that," I say as Andrew smiles. I grab a bandage and start gently wrapping it around his hand. After applying another layer I stand up. "You're good to go."
"Thanks again, Jade. I really appreciate-"
I cut him off. "Look, you can thank me later. We got to go if you don't want to be late on your first day of school."
I grab his good arm, drag him out the door, and lock it behind me as we run to my car.I throw open the door and he gets in the passenger seat. I turn on the car and pull out of he driveway.
There was an awkward moment of silence, until Andrew piped up.
"So... About the other day," he said, scratching his neck.
"You mean yesterday," I pointed out.
He nodded. "I wanted to apologize for breaking into your treehouse."
I bit my lip as I turned into the right lane. "I forgive you," I said quietly.
"And... Jade?" Andrew looked at me. I stopped at a red light and looked at him.
"I know you felt it too," he said quietly. I didn't say a word. For some reason I didn't want to talk about this.
"And there's something I have to tell you..." I pulled into the school parking lot.
"It'll have to wait," I said, getting out of my car. "Come on."~•~
