Chapter 2: Meeting Anna

{Alaric's Prov}

"Alaric, I need you to come to the cells please the prisoner is speaking some weird shit." My beta, Alexander, had asked through our private link. I just sighed and thought to myself, man I just want to call it a day. I just need one fucking day to myself with no interruptions, but I am alpha so that is never going to happen anytime soon. I walked to the cellars and every elite guard working down there they are trying to restrain this vampire.

I sighed and walked up to the situation. The minute I heard the vampire say "The Alpha and Luna of the Winter pack will fall. I will personally kill their family. I will start with their baby and then the Luna as I make the Alpha watch." It pissed me off that my future family would be in danger. I sighed and said "What makes you think that you would live long enough to kill MY family and make me watch? The way I see it you will never come out of these cells and never see the light of day or night again." I told everyone to bound him to the wall and gag him. As I walk away, I hear him say "My clan will finish my claim. Beware Alpha Alaric you and your loved ones are now in danger by the vampire community here in Washington. Even if I die in this cell, I will see you on the other side Alaric." I was fuming now that I found out my future mate and pup(s) are now in danger. I then went on my nightly run of the territory to clear my head.

{present day}

I had just come out of the cellars with more vampires that keep sneaking through my land. I swear this had not happened until that incident with that vampire happened last year. I went on my nightly run of the territory. When I was in wolf form, I smelt a lovely scent of sweet vanilla and lavender. I had passed a she-wolf who must have been new to the area because I have never seen her before, but she looked familiar, and I could not place it. I noticed she had a police uniform on as I followed her, so I kept my distance as I followed her home. I had to make sure she made it home safe especially since I am having a problem with vampires on my territory. She did make it home safe, the interesting thing about her though is she lives on the neutral ground between Edwin's and my pack lands. She then looked out her front window as I am in thought, and she looks at me through the window. At that moment something just clicked, and my wolf yelled in my head "MATE!"

I got back to the house that night and I shared it with Alexander and his sister. I told him what had happened to me tonight. Alex has been my best friend since we were little kids. Alex is the son of my father's beta. Alex told me "Congrats man, who is she?" I looked off into the distance and said "She is the new detective at the police station, and she is a she-wolf that lives on the neutral ground between Edwin's and our pack. I want to know her so much Alex." I had a wide grin on my face as I said this to him.

He pulled me out of my thoughts sighing and said "That is great man. How are you going to get to know her especially when you can't talk to people period, man? Introduce yourself to her because if she is new to town you don't want to scare her off." I regained control and agreed with Alex. He had known that opening up to people. Even with running the pack, I have a hard time remembering the names of my pack members without putting a face to the name and any issues that anyone had.

{Next day}

There was a knock on the door at the packhouse where I was working in my office. Alex said he would grab it and I just nodded since I was on a conference call with other alphas having issues with vampires like we are. Then I get a mind link from him saying "Alaric there is someone at the door, she is asking to speak with you. She has a human with her as well, do you want me to let them in?" I thought to myself for a few because I had just finished the call and responded to him saying "No, I will be there soon but bring everyone inside the main room though." As I am walking down the hall the sweet scent of vanilla and lavender hits my nose again and I knew it was her. She was at my front door and came to investigate the murder of that Cornman boy. She had asked the basic questions that all cops ask, and I had the basic answers "Tyler is the son of my rival but other than that I didn't know him. I do not know why he was murdered. I am sorry I can't be more help than that ma'am." To be honest I do know who murdered him and it was for the girl I see as a sister, Sophia.

I understand that if the treaty with the Cornman pack is broken. This might cause a war between the two of us if Edwin ever found out that it was the Winter pack that killed his son and sole heir. There would be war.

The whole pack was there except for the children for the questioning. Anna O'Hearn was asking all of us the questions but thinking about her I was purring. My wolf is starting to give me a headache and it was just getting worse. It was the same way for her because she kept rubbing her temples. It was hard to get the courage to talk to her. Then out of nowhere, she asked if she could talk to me privately. I figured she wanted to talk out of ear range of the rest of the pack. She asked one simple question "Are you the light brown werewolf that was outside my front window the other night?" I just nodded my head and then mentally slapped my face for being stupid. I asked "Ummm. Would you like to go on a date with me tonight?" she giggled and said "Yes."

When we touched it was like fiery sparks all over my body. My wolf wanted to mate with her so badly, but I will wait for her to tell me I can. She had relaxed me just by giggling and meeting me this afternoon especially after the situation in the cellars I was in the other day. Alex sensed it when we came back into the room after we had talked. I gave Alex a look and then he took everyone out of the room, even the girl who thought I was her mate. Now it was Anna, her human partner and I left in the room.

Anna was talking to her human partner out of my ear range as far as they could get. I saw that her human partner was uncomfortable in my presence it was sort of funny. I had laughed under my breath. When I came back into the room and gave them the enemies of the Cornman and the Winter packs. Most of them were rouges that lived in the neutral ground between the packs where Anna lived and that worried me a little bit. They had become rouges when we attacked their packs. Most of the packs we attacked had already fallen apart and we just offered refuge from being a rouge. She had sent her human partner back to the car but stayed in the house a little and told me "I'm still fairly new to town so you pick where to go and pick me up around 5:30." I nodded and we parted ways until tonight.

She wanted me to surprise her for dinner, where should I take her? Should I take her to a movie or dinner? I thought about this until about 1:30ish. I made a reservation at a fancy restaurant and then we will go to a movie. I left the house to go and pick her up. I was thinking throughout the date if everything was ok and to her liking. I never dated someone like her before. She is gentle, kind, caring, and loving perfect traits for a Luna. The people that I have ever dated just wanted my money. I fucking hate gold diggers. Yeah, I am rich, but I do not play the "rich" card at all because I dislike it. It brings out the worst in people and so I downplay it.
