Chapter 8: Anna's back

{Alaric's Prov}

Ilooked at Mia and then back at Allison. Then I had said "Allison you answerthis question honestly. Did you reject your mate because you wanted to be withme? If that is so, then why have his kid?" She looked at me with a smile andsaid, "My dear Alaric yes I had rejected him, and I was going to play his childoff as yours once you marked me and made me Luna." I was shocked and disgustedby her response and figured out she was planning on killing my mate and indeed taking her place.

Ilooked at Mia and said "Mia, my friend let's continue this conversation in myoffice as we also discuss how to get my mate back. I'm in great need of her bymy side to run this pack and have a family together." She nodded and we leftthe cells to get Anna back.

We arrived at the little shack that Mia described to us that Anna might be held in. Mia is right that they run patrols like we do on their land. Since our scents were masked, we were able to sneak past the patrol and into the shack. While I had my warriors keep waiting Alex, my father, John, and I went into the shack and followed Anna's scent. When we began to get closer, we heard her screams, and my pain shot through the roof. I think my screams had alerted them that we were there, but the howls outside let us know that a battle was happening. The next thing I know is that Anna's pain disappeared, and I had begun to panic; I had started to run to her and save her. When I got there, I snapped her torture's neck and her wolf surfaced and told me what had happened. Shortly after her wolf disappears back into Anna's subconscious, she regains consciousness and backs away from me. We thought keeping her there for a few more minutes would be ok while her wolf eased her back to reality.

The one thing I feared the most just came true. I found my beloved Anna, but she feared me, and she would not let me touch her. I had to have her brother carry her out. Even though Alex, my beta, I would not have trusted myself to let him carry her because my wolf was on edge, and he is unmated. We arrived home where the pack doctor met us at our home. Mia and the doctor had come forward to deal with Anna's wounds.

According to the pack doctor her physical wounds just needed stitches and time and rest to heal. Her worry was Anna's mental wounds that they had done to her. Mia had told me she could be here for comfort since I do not have anyone other than my mom to be here and she was busy keeping everything together. Anna had been placed into a medically induced coma for her mental state and she was able to wake herself up any time she wanted. The doctor is hoping that by letting her sleep, her wolf will heal her mentally and physically. So, I looked at Anna and said, "Anna I am so sorry that I broke my promise to you. I understand that you need time to trust me again. My friend Mia Devereux is here if you need a girl other than my mother and sister to talk to. I promise to keep my distance until you can trust me again." It has been a couple of days since the pack doctor put her into a coma.

As I begin to walk out of the room Anna wakes up and says "Alaric babe do you think I didn't already know what they were telling me was the truth. If I had not liked the truth, I would have rejected you when I found out the truth. Just because I backed away from you does not mean I did not trust you. I just did not know who the hell you were because the tortures were all different and somehow had your scent. They were doing it because I was your mate, but you know what kept me going was seeing you again. It was seeing your handsome face once again and being in our bed cuddling. Yes, I will need time to recover, and having girls around for a while will help but not having you around would be unbearable. Besides, I am a tough person remember that my love. Oh, and Mia it is nice to meet you, but I wish it were under better circumstances thank you for helping Alaric get me back. Now what is going to happen with Allison the traitor and what is the price she is going to have to pay?"

Ilaughed at Anna and then Mia spoke up "Well, Luna Anna the pleasure is allmine. I will take Allison and her unborn child to my old coven and let themtake their payment. As of Alaric's payment, it does not exist, I owe him my life,and as of right now that extends to you as well. When either of you needmy help, I will come and help if I can." Anna looked shocked about what she hadheard about Allison and said "Mia wait is there a deal we can make to have herlife taken in exchange for the baby's life. I understand the payment they are askingsuch a favor from your old coven, and I also understand that you and my husbandhave a past but please. The baby is innocent and has done nothing wrong. It wasall her fault and her rejected mates' fault." I looked at Mia and anger flashedthrough my eyes and said, "Her mate is the rouge that helped take you from me,Anna." Anna just nodded her head and gave up the fight a little too easily. Ihave a feeling there is going to be a fight about it later. We looked at Miaand she said "Perhaps I could speed up the pregnancy, but my old coven willknow that she is without a child and come looking for the child. They believethat evil is passed on through the bloodline. Their solution to this is to getrid of the parents and the child. So, perhaps this can be done. We can get awaywith it, but the baby will still be hunted down and killed."

Anna sighed and admitted defeat too easily again. Then Mia was about to take Allison back to her old coven when the dreams began. It got to the point where I could not tell the difference between reality and not. I swear I was cursed but I just thought it in my head and told no one about it.
