Silence is Suicide.
Chapter One.
"Come on! Speak!" All the children said as they shoved me into the lockers at school. They punched and pulled at me. I eventually broke through, refraining to fight them back. It would be hopeless anyway if I tried. There are too many of them.
"Oh, look it's that freak who refuses to talk!" They laughed like a herd of giddy hyenas; grabbing at me, pulling my hair.
"Emo faggot!" They screamed in my ear, pushing me through the school doors and into the crisp winter air.
I put my sweatshirt hood up, in attempt to just disappear from all the unnecessarily torment. I blasted my music as loud as it would go to drown out their laughter and hurtful words. I shoved my bony hands in my pockets and ignored the fact that they would always be there; tormenting me.
They hurled stones at me on my way home; I kept walking, it didn't hurt anymore. They gave me bruises, cuts, called me names, and poked fun at me on a daily basis. Like it mattered. I just didn't care anymore. No word would escape my lips... not until my girlfriend, Annabel was in my arms one last time.
Who are these horrible people? To answer that, they are the "normal kids." Also known as the "Utopians." These kids have everything they could ever imagine. The Utopians are as perfect as it gets, they were bred to be flawless. It seems so fake. Practically everyone wishes they could be a Utopian because if you're not, you get made fun of- that is, if you're well known enough to be picked on. The rest of us, the "Uncommons" as we're called, are the real normal people. The people who aren't fake, but don't get any of the Utopian benefits.
I, Emerson Bernard Scott, am a very well known Uncommon. I refused to speak after my girlfriend went missing. I however, have no desire to be a Utopian... I'm never going back to that life.
I reached my house after my long walk, I exhaled quietly, afraid to open the door.
