Silence is Suicide.
Chapter Fourteen.
"Told you she'd come back, bro." Jeremy whispered to me. He had the biggest smile on his face. It was obvious to me that Ambrosia was his most meaningful and precious treasure.
I yawned, I was tired, and nodded my head.
"You tired?" he asked me, "You can go to bed any time, no need to stay up." Jeremy looked at the clock, "I should probably head to bed as well."
Jeremy did a last minute clean up while I headed to the room Jeremy offered to me.
"Good night, Emerson." I heard him call from the kitchen.
I turned and looked at the humane man. I smiled and gave him a thumbs up. I opened the door to my room and jumped right into bed. I didn't bother changing out of my skinny jean or my sweatshirt. I was just too tired to care about that.
I yawned one final time and drifted away into a deep sleep.
"Come on Emerson!" my girlfriend, Annabel giggled. She was wearing a white sundress that flowed past her knees. Her long, black, corkscrew curls fell back as she laughed. Her ocean blue eyes sparkled in the sun.
"Anna! Wait." I laughed, I was truly happy whenever I was in her presence. I ran and scooped her up into my arms. She laughed and kissed me.
Suddenly, she jumped out of my arms. "Catch me if you can!" she smiled and ran through the meadow.
I chased after her, but as soon as I closed my eyes for a moment, she was gone. "Anna? Anna! Where are you, love?" I called out to her.
"Emerson! Save me!" I heard her scream a blood-curdling shriek.
The sky turned black, it started to pour. The meadow suddenly became dead and lifeless. The beautiful day fell apart. I couldn't find her. I was trapped inside a memory.
My eyes opened, I sat up, screaming. I couldn't shake the awful nightmare. It lingered in my mind. It was haunting me.
The door to the room flew open and the lights blinded me for a moment. "Emerson! Are you okay?" Jeremy asked, sounding very concerned about me.
I nodded and gave him a thumbs up.
Jeremy stood in the doorway, the concerned look didn't leave his face. "Okay... I'll see you in the morning. I'm right here if you need me. Goodnight bro."
He turned the lights off on his way out. I sat in the darkness, sweating. I clutched my knees and pulled them tight to my chest. I breathed slowly as tears fell from my eyes. Go away, unwanted nightmare.
