I run for the woods because I don't know where else to go. Everyone saw me in a vision. I'm not exactly sure what it looks like when I'm in a vision, but it must look quite strange, and by the looks on their faces, it did. Now I can't go back, not to school, and not to that house. I just want to go home. Not to the island, to my actual home. Suddenly I miss my family more then I ever have and I just curl up under a tree, deep enough in the woods so I won't be found. It feels good to cry, I've been holding it in for a long time. I must look pretty pathetic, especially compared to Hailey, and Jakson. They never get upset, they just think about how to fix the situation. I don't know how to do that. I look up and the sky poking out from behind the leaves. It's cloudy and looks like it's going to rain. Just a second ago it was beautiful out. Just my luck I guess. I wander deeper into the grey, late November forest as rain drops start to fall. I think to the boy I helped rescue a little while ago. I never really saw him around back on the island, he was always really moody according to Hailey. I wonder if he, and the others are okay. The woods get thicker and I'm somewhat sheltered from the rain. A cold wind rips through me out of nowhere and I pull my sweater over my hands. I hear the sound of a creek and walk towards it without thinking. It's a pretty little gurgling brook, only about as wide as my arm is long in the narrowest part. The clear water rushes over the little pebbles and rocks. I look around and am delighted to see dark green pine trees surrounding me. I think this might be the prettiest place in the world. I snap out of the trance and get a sinking feeling in my chest. I look around once more and realize this is the exact place from my vision. There must be a reason I'm here. I plunge my pale hand into the icy stream and the water isn't even up to my elbow. I grab a pebble and flip it over. It too has my name scratched into it. I don't understand what this is supposed to mean. I put both pebbles in the palm of my hand and when they slide together there is the sound of two magnets connecting. They now form one round rock, my name is no longer on the outside, but rather the inside.
"What?" I'm even more confused now. I flip the rock over and it just had a large R on it, probably standing for Rowan. I grip the rock and jump across the stream towards where I remember the cliff being in my vision. Sure enough there it is, in real life right in front of me. It's not a very large cliff, but it's not one you would want to fall from. Underneath is the crashing of ocean waves. This ocean is different then the one on the island, this one seems less powerful. Where is Jakson, and Hailey, and all them. I need them right now. I'm in the woods, lost, and utterly confused. My head suddenly buzzes and rings. This isn't how I've ever felt before a vision. My whole body begins to shake and I struggle to stay upright. I back away from the cliff and lay back against a tree. It sounds like a million bees are struggling to escape my head. I place my hands over my ears as the sound intensifies because I don't know what else to do. It just gets louder and louder until my head is full of the awful sound. I can't see anything, all I can focus on is the sound. I'm not sure if it's coming from outside, or in my head. I close my hands even tighter over my ears, pressing the earring Hailey pierced my ears with into my neck. The sound only grows louder so it must be coming from my head. I collapse onto the ground and close my eyes, I've never been so scared of my own head.
