Percy's POV

I wake up in the morning still smiling. Yesterday mom and Paul left after the blessing and I'd stayed up late. It had been a great day. I open my eyes and the sun is streaming in through the window and reflecting off the water in the fountain. I watch its rainbow ways cast light on the walls. Life was good.

I stretch and get up. Today I have life guard duty. I'm usually the one who gets the job the most often, seeing as I am the only child of Poseidon. But others do take turns on life guard duty, which gives me a rest.

I stand up and start to walk toward the door, but I'm pushed back. I pull out Riptide and look around. There's no one in the cabin, so who pushed me? I try again, but some unknown force repels me. I try again and again, but it won't give. It's like I'm hitting a brick wall, and trust me, I've had a lot of experience with hitting walls.

I'm trying to break through, using every thing I can think of (even throwing some dirty socks at it hoping the smell would break it) but nothing was working. I started to give up when a notice came from behind me

I whip around and watch as the fountain begins to glow. And Irish message. I rush over to the fountain and watch as the glowing orb splits in two and different scenes come into view. In one is the new camper, was her name Ivy, but that doesn't matter. She's jumping into the water and is swimming away from sure with strong strokes. Why did some one send me this? I think to my self. Then I see the other message and freeze. Annabeth.

She's standing on the shore, looking around. She's probably wondering where I am. I watch helplessly as she runs toward the water. She dives right in and resurfaces a good distance away. Why is someone showing me this? I wonder. Is it a threat?

I had been only half watching Annabeth, the other half lost in thought, when I saw something. The message was now over Annabeth's head, like a movie, and I watched in horror as a shadow moved under her. I want to rush to her, to warn her, but the message seems to he only one way. I watch as the shadow moves under her, and Annabeth must have scents something was off. She stopped swimming and looks around. She is a good distance away from the shore now and she looks worried. I watch the water underneath her, trying to see the shadow, but now it's gone. I let out a sigh of relief, but it wasn't over.

I watch as Annabeth's face torn to fear, then horror before she's stuffed under the water. "Annabeth!" I yell, but I am useless here. I watch as she is dragged down, deeper, deeper, in till the dark waters consume her. "No!" I yell.

I turn around and run towards the door, and this time there is no resistance. I go rocketing out of the door and run fast as I can towards the beach. When breach it I look around. Just as I'm about to jump in, I see her shoot up from the water gasping and clawing to be freed from the water. Before she can get more then one breath, she's dragged under again.

I don't hesitate a moment longer. I jump in and rocket through the waves, desperate to get to her. I get to her in moments. Something is rapped around her leg, a thick chain that disappears into the darkness. It is slowly dragging her down under the water. I take out rupture and through it toward the chain. It hits its mark and easily cuts through the thick chain. Annabeth is freed, and I rush to her, lifting her up to the surface.

We break through the cold water and Annabeth gasps. I let out a sigh and hold her to me. Annabeth is shaking slightly, but other then that unharmed. I start taking us back to shore, hoping to make it there without any more incidents. When we make it to shore, Annabeth turns to me. "Percy," she says, worry in her eyes. "Before I was dragged under, I heard a scream. I recognized the voice Percy." She looks straight in my eyes, looking torn. "It was Ivy."

My blood runs cold. That's what the two messages meant. I had been so focused on saving Annabeth that I hadn't even thought about the other message. It had already been about five minutes after I saw Annabeth go under, and Ivy must have been taken before then. If she had been under this long, there was no way she could have survived.

Annabeth's eyes tear up and she falls into my arms crying. "Percy," she says. "She didn't even have training or even a home yet. And now it's too late." I hold Annabeth and try to comfort her, but I know how she feels. If only I had been quicker, or woken up earlier, then maybe I could have saved her. But now it's too late. Now Ivy's gone and she never even had a chance to find a home at camp.

Hey, guys! I had a lot of fun writing this chapter and hope it was exciting. Please read and comment. Also, I tried to make a good cliff hanger. In my other stories, well, I haven't really made a cliff hanger. Please tell me if it worked. This story is both meant for your entertainment and my own. As I've been writing,  the story has been developing in ways I wasn't planning. Well, I'll let you return to your reading. Please tell me how I did with the cliff hanger! Bye
