Ivy's POV
My day started like any other day, with running away from once another foster home. This time, I reduced to get caught. I ran down the dark ally, towards the dense woods. I could here the voices behind me, of my care taker Mrs. Bonsey. She was a fat abusive women who would always hit me. I refused to be caught this time and get yelled at and punished again. I ran faster at the memory. Soon I was at the fence in between me and the safety of the dense woods. I looked back for a split second but saw no one, so I started to climb. I finally made it over and jumped down to the weedy ground of the forest floor. I had always felt safe in the forest and grass and not the fenced city that had nothing but pavement. I rarely got to be in any type of grass or field though. I looked around and could feel my senses tightening and I could hear every sound in the forest and rustle of the grass. I felt at peace. Then I remembered the angry Mrs. Bonsey close behind. I didn't wait another second

I ran and ran. The memory of the yelling and lonely nights staring out a closed window kept me going. But there was something else too. A strange power was guiding me through the forest, guiding me along as if beckoning me to run deeper into the forest. It was becoming night quickly but I never stopped. By the time I did, the stars were already shining overhead. I only stopped because I was too hungry to go on.

I easily found a nice tree and climbed it to the top, where I made a quick camp. I had brought a backpack of supplies. It held a water bottle, a loaf of bread, some apples, and my blanket and pillow. It was the only provisions I could grab. I also had one change of cloth. Not because it was lighter but because it was the only clothes I owned. I took a few gulps of water and only a little of bread. Who knew how long I would be out here.

I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, I woke up in a cold sweat. I had not had many dreams, but when I did I never remembered them, and the only way I knew it was a nightmare was from the sweat that would drip down my face after I woke, gasping for air.

I rubbed my eyes and was surprised to see the sun was already high in the sky. I knew I'd better leave soon before anyone, or anything, found me. I packed up my blanket and climbed down the tree, but froze when I saw what was under it. A large black bear was walking around the tree in a slow circle, as if waiting for me to climb down so it could have it's lunch. At my movement the bear looked up and I gasped. I had never seen a live bear before, but I was pretty shore they didn't look like that. This bear had startling bright blue eyes that were bright even from this hight. It had a large scar on its left eye, but other than that it was the most beautiful bear I had ever seen.

In those eyes it seemed to know everything. It looked intelligent enough to speak. I sat there mesmerized by those eyes for a few minutes until the bear turned around and walked away. It took me several minutes to collect my self then another five minutes to decide it was safe to descend. When I was about six feet off the ground, I jumped and landed so gracefully I shocked myself. But I shocked someone else even more.

When I landed I herd a yelp from behind me and spun to see a boy with shaggy hair only a few feet away from me, lying on the ground. I considered running, until I looked down to his legs. Where legs should have been were not the legs of a boy, but of a goat. He was wearing an orange shirt with faded letters on it. His arms were coverings face as if to protect him from an attack.

"Please don't kill me." He squeaked. I was very confused. For one thing, I had never seen a boy with goat feet before, and for another, he thought I was going to kill him?

He slowly moved his arm away from his eyes, shaking the whole time. Then he saw me and lowered his arms to his side. "You're not a monster? What are you doing in the woods so deep?" I stood there, suddenly forgetting how to speak. He sat up and dusted him self off then looked me up and down. "You a demigod or something?" He sniffed her. "You smell like one, but only so faintly. Who are you anyway?" I was never good around people, but found the strength to say one word "Ivy."
