I tapped my fingers along to the song that was playing on my iPod. Anything to keep myself distracted form the nerves which were now stirring inside me.

Today was the day. It was time to start my new life and leave my old one behind. Allow me to explain... My mother had found a better job, but of course with every great opportunity there is always a catch - We had to move over to Wolverhampton and re-locate.

So here is where the nerves come in. I'm your average sixteen year old girl except rather shy, quirky and socially awkward. People like us, well we don't particularly do well when it comes down to making new friends and starting new.

In fact, I didn't really have many friends in my old town either. I just usually preferred to keep to myself...

My thoughts were interrupted as the car zigzagged in and out between houses, eventually came to a halt in front of one. It was a rather average sized house, not too big, not too small. It was brick in colour and the windows and doors were all painted in white. It consisted of a garage for our car as well as a gate which I assummed lead to our back garden.

I slowly opened the car door, only to be hit by the cold winter weather. It was currently minus one degree Celsius, but at least I could pretend to be shaking due to the cold and not the nerves.

Grabbing my suitcase, I hurried into the house which was already unlocked for us. It actually looked bigger than my previous one, which was good considering I would have to live here from now on...

"Is this alright?" the over-friendly sales woman asked my mother, as she continued to look around the house. Her over-exaggerated fake smile not faltering for a second.

"Perfect." my mother agreed, as she signed the papers confirming that she wanted the house.

"It's all settled then! Welcome to your new home!" the woman cheered as she made her way out of the house. Thank goodness. If she hadn't had left I probably would have tackled the poor woman just to keep her quiet.

Leaving my mum to finish off the paperwork, I decided to go upstairs and pick a bedroom. Since I was an only child I didn't have to fight it out with my siblings.

Finally settling for the first room I looked in, I plonked my bags down and waited for the movers truck to arrive with the rest of my room.

"Amy!" my mum called from downstairs.

Sighing and getting up from the too comfy floor, I ran downstairs to see what she wanted.

I mentally praised myself for bothering to do my hair today as when I got downstairs I found my mum speaking to a family who I assumed were our neighbours.

The couple looked like they were in their forties, they were joined by their two daughters and their son - who was rather attractive, if I could say so myself.

He had brown hair which was swept sideways, perfectly wrapping around his head. He looked to  be about sixteen years of age. His warm chocolate brown eyes soon met mine as I felt a blush creeping its way onto my cheeks. A friendly smile formed across his lips.

"Hi, I'm Liam." he said, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"Nice to meet you Liam, I'm Amy." I said as I took his hand. He had caught me staring at him before.  Now he probably thought I was weird. Great start Amy, great start...

We all sat down in the living room - the only room with furniture in it - and began exchanging conversations.

I tensed up as Liam sat down next to me, although we didn't talk much as we were too busy listening to the other conversations. The butterflies danced around my stomach as his leg accidentally brushed against mine. Yes I was weird like that...

I was focused on Liam the whole time, rather than the conversations that were being exchanged. Which is pretty bad considering I had only just met the boy.

An hour later..

A loud beeping sound came from outside, signalling us that the movers truck had arrived. The men slowly began dragging in my furniture piece by piece. I had them place all my furniture in the centre of my room seeing as we still had to paint it.

My mum began bringing out the paint buckets as we began painting my soon-to-be bedroom.

I couldn't help but worry over the fact that tomorrow was my first day in a whole new school and I had to make new friends all over again.

The rest of the afternoon flew by, nothing interesting happened seeing as we had to prepare most of the house. At least I could say that I met someone new and did not send him away screaming and also my room was finally ready although it took most of the afternoon to set up.

I had decided on painting the walls brown and white, mostly because of Liam's eyes and also a tiny bit due to the fact that I was a hormonal teenage girl who had quite the addiction to chocolate...

My double-bed was placed in the centre of the room, with its matching quilt cover placed on top. Directly in front of it was my television which was placed on top of a white piece of furniture containing numerous shelves to hold all my tiny bits and pieces.

On the left stood my wardrobe and chest of draws which would hold the vast majority of my clothing items. On the space left over on the wall also hung my mirror, it was long enough so I could see my full body.

On the wall to my right hang numerous pictures of times with the family and special occasions that I had enjoyed. The wall stopped three-quarters of the way as behind it was my en-suite bathroom. Now I could get used to living like this...

I decided on skipping dinner and heading to bed, I had a busy day planned for tomorrow and the sooner I got to sleep the sooner I could get it over with..
