After freaking out about getting on the Elite Curmoth High Choir Team, I snapped out of my excitement and back to Jack.
"When is the first practice?", I asked him curiously.
"Tomorrow actually. I wanted to come by to make sure you were ok. Were you sick or something? Is that why you weren't at school today?", Jack asked, sounding somewhat concerned.
Ugh. I bet Jack isn't Will's biggest fan considering what happened with Tabitha.
"It's a long story.", I sigh, crossing my arms over my chest and shifting my weight from foot to foot.
"Well I think I have time. If not then let's make some. How about dinner on Friday?", he said, grinning that adorable smile.
His smile is so beautiful and- wait a second. Did he just ask me out? To dinner? On a date? Are we a thing? Holy Crap Sauce!
"Uhm. Yeah. Dinner. Sounds... good!", I belched out, trying to contain my insides out of excitement and pure amazement.
I was screaming inside my head and my hormones were going crazy. I just couldn't contain myself. Almost.
"Cool. I'd also like to tell you about, you know, everything. , he said quietly, studying my face.
You mean about everything you lied to me about.
"Okay, sounds good.", I replied as I took a deep breath.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow Ken?", he said with a grin.
"Okay. Bye Jack.", I say and give him a small wave.
The second I waved I regretted it. It looked so dumb. Like a four year old except not as adorable. Should I apologize?
Before I could apologize for waving, Jack was already off the doorstep and hopping into a minivan. Wait. A minivan?
I didn't know he drove a minivan. It's kind of endearing actually. It's cute...
Yeah. Just as cute as your four year old wave. Shut up, Kendall.
"Kendall!", I worried voice exclaimed from behind me.
I turned around to find a very worrisome John behind me. Dark circles were under his eyes and his face was tense from being so, well, worried. His mouth was open in a O shape and the corners of his mouth were lopsided. One of them looked upward as the other corner faced down. It was a worried but hopeful expression.
I opened my mouth to reply to him but before I could say anything I was enveloped in a ginormous hug.
"Kendall, I was so worried.", he said quietly, almost whimpering.
"I know, I'm sorry-", I began.
"No. I'm sorry for being such a jerk yesterday. It would have been my fault if anything were to happen,",he began to say as he pulled out of the hug.
"But,... I am fine," I pointed at myself, "see, I'm a-okay."
John smiled his shining smile and gave me another bear hug.
"Let's go inside, why were you out here anyways.", he asks, dragging me into the foyer.
"Just getting some fresh air.", I lied. It's not that I didn't want to tell him Jack was here, it's just that John would get really protective and make a big deal out of everything. It's easier this way.
He nodded and then frowned. "Why were you not here last night?", he asked in a semi-strict tone.
I sighed. "Sorry, I was at Q's house and lost track of time."
