The moment I walked into the Mason's Mansion after school that Thursday, I was greeted by Ms. Jameson, who seemed beyond excited.

She beamed at me the second I walked into the foyer. "Kendall, I'm so happy you're here! In about two hours I will fetch you from your room. The Rehearsal Ball begins promptly at six! It will be one of the best ones yet!"

I simply nodded. Then I smiled to myself secretly, it seemed funny to see such a proper lady so excited.

Once I made my way up the excessive flights of stairs, I went into my bedroom to finish some homework. I was glad that I didn't have to cram all of the school work into one night. The Mason's said that they would pull us out of school on Friday, because of the Ball. I thought it was unnecessary, but I took it none the less. One day away from all those students might do some good. And that meant that I had three whole days, as well as this evening, to work on all of the homework I've gotten and to avoid all the high school rumors.

I don't know how long I was sitting at my desk till a voice startled the living daylight out of me.

"Hey, Ken.", a voice boomed from my doorway. I yelped and spun around to find John.

He was leaning against the doorframe with a slight smile on his face. His auburn hair was combed perfectly and he was still wearing his clothes from school. Needless to say, he was handsome, as always.

"Hey John. You scared me.", I said, stating the obvious.

He shrugged with a grin. He was obviously not sorry. "So, what are you doing?", He asked, sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Homework."

"Seriously. Homework? You have all weekend.", He teased.

I rolled my eyes. "Hey, don't judge! Well what are you doing right now, that is so much fun?"

"I'm talking to my you. Although I wouldn't say it's fun.", John joked.

I shot him an evil glare before walking over to my bed, where he was sitting. "I'm joking!", He defended, lifting his muscular arms up as if to say "I surrender".

"So what are you doing here?", I asked again, as I sat down next to him.

He shrugged, "I don't know. I was bored."

I laughed. "Well what would you like to do then?", I asked, rolling my eyes.

He looked at me with a slight grin. He had a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

"What?", I asked cautiously, leaning away from him.

Without an answer, John pounced on me. Then, to my horror, began tickling me. I thrashed around on my bed, desperately trying to kick John off of me.

"Johnathan Andrew Mason! You better stop it this instant!", I shouted at him between screams.

Despite my profuse shouts and kicks, John didn't stop torturing me. He sat on my legs and held my arms with one hand, as he tickled me with his other.
