BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Dave nervously swallowed the knot in his throat as he slowly turned his head to the alarm clock and wristwatch sitting beside him on his side table.

With a shaking hand, he turned the alarm clock off and sat up. He looked across his room at the mirror on the wall parallel to the foot of his bed and noticed he could see his red eyes. He wasn't even wearing his shades.

He looked down at his body and noticed he was wearing the same thing he slept in last, no shirt accompanied by navy blue sweat pants.

He pulled the covers off of himself and and swung his legs over the side of his bed. He picked up his phone and quickly pulled up his calendar app.

October 13th.

The same day he had gotten the wristwatch.

The same day he met Karkat Vantas.

But of course he wasn't thinking of Karkat at the moment, just the situation he was currently stuck in.

He quickly bolted out of his room and down the stairs to see Bro and Dirk standing in the kitchen having a discussion about something Dave didn't care for.

"Quick! What's the date?!" Dave shouted out at the two.

"Whoa dude calm down its not the big day of your beauty pageant, it's the thirteenth." Dirk spat out, trying to both calm down and make fun of the younger one.

Dave clenched his jaw and rolled his eyes before quickly running back upstairs to his bedroom.

Shutting the door behind him, he jolted suddenly and realized he still had to get ready for school. So he turned back around and ran out of his door to the bathroom located upstairs.

He quickly went through the same daily routine, but with more umph to his process. Seeing as how he's been all riled up from the watch.

Running back to his room, with a slower pace this time, he closed the door to get changed, including putting on his aviators.

Checking the time, it read 6:34. He bit his lip before quickly pocketing the watch.

It took him nearly seven minutes to walk down all of the stairs in his apartment building.

He grabbed his backpack and raced out of his front door and down the stairs.

Making it out of the buildings front doors, he didn't realize he was still running, but he quickly remembered what happened last time.

Running into Karkat and soon ruining his whole day.

This made Dave stop dead in his tracks. He looked all around until he spotted the short brunett walking out of the same apartment building that he ran out of.

Dave was early today, which meant they would both get to the bus on time and wouldn't have to ride with Bro and his Smuppets.

Dave quickly started fixing his hair in a dorky manner, then let out a deep breath and turned around to walk to his bus stop a corner down.

He stopped at the said corner and watched as Karkat trailed behind about ten feet, but not looking up at Dave.

Dave suddenly felt very nervous and embarrassed, seeing as how he nearly killed Karkat yesterday.

Or- today?

'Would it be yesterday for me but a new today for everyone else? Or do I count it as the same day?' Dave rambled to him self in his head.

Then suddenly he could hear a grown man shouting at him.

"Hey mister cool guy! I don't have all day, there are other kids to pick up! Are you gonna get on or not?!" Dave stiffened in fear and quickly marched up the bus steps and tried not to look his bus driver in the eye.

He looked up at the rest of the bus and spotted Karkat already sitting towards the back.

Dave smiled and made his way toward the boy, but quickly chickened out and sat in the seat across the isle from Karkat.

Dave nearly shrunk down in his seat just trying to think of a way to make a better impression than yesterday.

Suddenly the bus stopped to pick up kids and Dave knew this stop picked up enough kids to fill up the rest of the bus.

Dave knew some kid was going to sit next to Karkat and, even if Dave found the courage regardless, he would lose his chance to sit next to Karkat.

In a quick panic, Dave jumped seats before the first kids passed by in the isle.

As Dave sat down abruptly, he scared Karkat, so much that the smaller boy let out a scream just loud enough to get a small surrounding perimeter of kids to notice.

Karkat clutched his chest and tried to calm down. He quickly shot Dave an angry glare.

"And what was the fucking point of that?!"

'Does this kid always shout like a crabby little shit?!'

"Uh- there were no other seats.." And yet again Dave is making a fool of himself in front of Karkat.

"Whatever." Karkat turned to face the window and tried to ignore the blond boy, but the said boy didn't realize this.

"Well uh- my name's Dave."

Karkat stayed silent.

"So where did you move from Karkat?"

Suddenly the short boy stared at Dave curiously.

"How do you know me? It's my first day and i specifically remember not telling you my fucking name."

Dave froze.

'He right, shit. Quick how did i know?' Dave looked over the boys appearance and spotted his name written on his should strap on his book bag.

"Your uh.. your name is written on your bag.." dave laughed nervously but came off to Karkat as creepy.

Karkat widened his eyes and turned his head to his backpack and saw the writing.

Dave could have sworn he heard Karkat mutter out 'stupid Kankri' before looking back out of the window.

Dave let out a silent sigh and kept his head down for the rest of the bus ride.

Once the bus stopped, the kids began piling out and making their own way into the building. Dave slowed and waited for Karkat to pass him before Dave caught back up with him.

Karkat didn't even bat an eye at the taller boy, nor did he say anything.

Dave gulped nervously and turned his head to Karkat and was about to say something when suddenly he felt himself getting pushed to the side with great force and didn't notice falling on top of Karkat.

Dave skidded his knees on the side walk and Karkat hit the back of his head and spine on the ground as well.

They heard some guy yell out an unconvincing 'sorry!'

Dave quickly sat up and leaned over Karkat, examining him with great detail even if he didn't know how to tell if something was wrong.

Karkat suddenly sat up with force and hit his head on Dave's own head. The two boys fell back from each other and both clutched their own heads in hissing pain.

"Just get the fuck away from me you crazy bastard!"

Karkat got up and ran away from Dave whom was still on the ground, watching Karkat leave him there.
