--THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW FOLLOWING DAVE'S STORY LINE--
Dave could tell the second he looked into Karkat's eyes that he wouldn't be able to keep his cool for a single second.
"Well what in the world was that about? David did you do something to that poor boy?" Bro questioned him while watching Karkat run away into the school building from the front seat.
'Oh man I fucked up big time! First I crush him and cause him to miss the bus, then I act like a fucking freak, spill hot coffee on him and smear something unknown all over him, then Cal fucking scares the shit out of him!' Dave thought to himself. 'That kid is never going to want to talk to me again!'
"I'll, uh.. I'll see you at home." Dave said to bro, staring wide eyed as he made his way into the building. He continued his way, not focusing on much around him, and somehow found his first period class and sat down.
He just kept thinking over and over again about every little detail Karkat had to him. The way his forehead would crease when he would frown, the crinkles all over his lips when he pursed them together, how his dark brown, messy hair would fall all over the place and frame his face perfectly. Dave couldn't understand why he lost it the second he looked into the shorter boys eyes.
'Oh god those beautiful brown eyes that captured his curiosity in them....' Dave thought to himself, not even catching the fact that he was smitten with the new kid that he would probably never see again.
And as fate would have it, at that very second Dave was not focused on anything but the memory of Karkat, the one and only himself walked right into the same first period Dave was in.
Dave was suddenly pulled back into reality as he heard a very familiar and angry voice shout just above a whisper behind him.
"Oh for fucking crying out loud!" Karkat whined as he spotted the back of Dave's head out of the crowd of unknown people. Dave turned and made direct, nearly direct, eye contact with him. Dave's face felt instantly hotter as it turned that impossible shade of red all over again.
Karkat closed his eyes tightly, let out a very deep breath, and walked over to the farthest seat from the tall blond. Dave watched every action Karkat made for as long as he could before the teacher grabbed his attention from Karkat.
"Strider! Turn around in your seat and quit staring at the new kid!" The whole class began to softly laugh as Dave pursed his lips and slowly turned to face the front.
"Speaking of the new kid, this is Vantas, everyone." The teacher said while directing his hand to the said student.
"It's Karkat. Vantas is my last name."
'Well now I know his last name, too..' Dave thought to himself.
"I know. But in this class I call by last names." The teacher stated before turning to the board and starting his lesson for the day.
Dave was itching in his seat to turn around, talk to Karkat, or even move closer to the brunet. Anything to keep Dave from fidgeting in place, he didn't realize how much he felt an attraction to Karkat. If he did notice it then he didn't understand what he was thinking.
He was completely dumbfounded because of one guy. And it was obvious, painfully obvious.
As the minutes ticked by incredibly slow, Dave counted them.
Tick
Tock
Tick
Tock
Tic-
RIINNNNGGGGGG!
Dave jumped up from his seat as the bell rang and turned to see Karkat was already one foot out of the door. Dave bit his lip and ran out after the short boy, the boy he couldn't stop thinking about.
Soon he caught up and spun Karkat around, only to realize too late that they were at the top of a flight of stairs, and that he caused Karkat to fall backwards, pulling Dave with him.
Dave felt the wind being knocked out of his chest as he quickly wrapped his arms around Karkat, doing his best to protect him from getting seriously hurt. But Dave couldn't stop himself from feeling every bit of pain that came his way.
With every corner of every step, Dave could feel a different part of his body getting bruised or scratched up.
It seemed like a whole year in Dave's opinion until they stopped falling and rolled onto the ground just a few feet from the bottom of the staircase.
Dave slowly opened his eyes, though in his head he was screaming at himself not to move a single inch, but he still had to know if Karkat was alright.
As he opened his eyes, the light was doing everything to keep them shut, but Dave pushed past it enough to see Karkat crying in his arms on top of Dave.
Dave could feel his heart being ripped in two and getting smashed by a meat pounder. This pain was far more awful and wretched then what those stairs could ever do to him. Dave saw Karkat crying, and he couldn't stand it.
Slowly and stiffly, Dave released Karkat and sat the two up. Dave started looking over the smaller for any signs of injury, thankfully not seeing much but some bruises.
Karkat quickly stood up and Dave copied him, but suddenly Karkat burst out running down the hall. Dave followed him and gently grabbed Karkat's hand. Karkat stood still in his spot, not facing Dave, not looking up at him, not anything.
"Karkat- are you okay? Did you get hurt that badly?.." Dave whispered, whole-heartedly. Karkat started shaking his head 'no'.
"I-I-I.. I have to g-go... My- uh watch is bro-ken... I- good bye..." And then he left. Dave watched Karkat run down the hall and turn a corner. But he didn't chase after him this time. Dave knew he was doing nothing but ruining Karkat's day, and probably his whole life by this point.
'But if he didn't get hurt... Why was he crying?...' Dave thought as he frowned and sighed, heart-achingly.
