NINE; HEARTBREAK

"I can't believe he talked you into coming." Cassadee told her sister as they stood in the field while the Cullen's got ready to play baseball.

"You're here." Bella pointed out.

"Well, I always watch it with Dad." Cassadee reminded her twin. "Just stand there and watch, Esme made me the umpire because they cheat."

"We do not!" Emmett defended himself.

"Yes, you do." Esme said knowingly, a smile on her face before she turned back to Cassadee. "Call them as you see them, Cassie."

"I always do." Cassadee said as she stood behind Esme who was the catcher.

"It's time." Alice said from the pitcher's mound as there was a flash of lightning and a crackle of thunder. Rosalie came up to bat and Alice threw the ball at lightning speed. When Rosalie hit the ball with the aluminum bat it sounded exactly like thunder as the ball went soaring through the woods.

"Now I see why you need thunder." Bella told Esme as real thunder crackled and Rosalie ran for the next base while Edward ran after the ball at vampire speed. "That has to be a home run."

Esme shook her head, "Edward's very fast."  Almost right after her statement the ball came flying back, Esme catching it with ease as Rosalie made it past third base. Esme put the ball on the plate a second before Rosalie slid into it.

"You're out." Cassadee said as Esme looked at her.

Emmett cheered at the statement, causing Rosalie to give him a death glare. "C'mon, babe. It's just a game!"

Rosalie ignored her mate as she stared Cassadee down while all three of them stood up, the blonde vampire brushing past her as she walked by. Cassadee would be lying if she said she wasn't slightly scared of Rosalie. Mostly because she could snap her like a twig before she even knew what was happening. There was also the fact that she was easily the most beautiful person she had ever seen.

Carlisle was up to bat, another sound of thunder crackling as he hit the ball and ran for second base as Edward and Emmett ran for it, jumping more than ten feet in the air before colliding, which sounded like boulders smashing, and missing the ball as Carlisle slid onto the home plate.

Jasper walked up to the plate as he flipped the bat in his hand and winked at Cassadee, which made her feel like a zoo was running wild in her stomach, before turning to Alice and preparing for the ball. Once he hit the ball he ran for second base as Emmett ran up a tree and caught the ball, throwing it to Esme when he landed back on the ground.

"Sorry, babe." Cassadee told her boyfriend as she told him he was out. She would be lying if she said she didn't find a little bit of joy in it.

"I feel like you're not." Jasper said as he stood next to Cassadee, a smirk on his face as he looked down at her.

"Not really." Cassadee confirmed with a smile as Rosalie went up to bat again. She hit the ball and ran as Alice turned to face the opposite direction.

"Stop!" All of them turned to look the same direction Alice was, obviously hearing something that the twins weren't. The Cullen's that weren't near home plate ran over to it.

Jasper's arm was immediately around Cassadee's waist as he put the baseball cap he was wearing on her head, attempting to get rid of her scent the best he could.

"Like that'll help, I could smell her from across the field." Rosalie said before walking with most of her family towards the foggy opening of the field.
