It had been about a month since 'Reira' had arrived. She routinely helped out with the case, providing Ryuzaki with hints and clues in secret whenever she felt she was allowed. Ryuzaki stopped being overcome with surprise when her hints proved to be true. At this point, the investigation team had started to investigate the Yotsuba Group. Matsuda had done something stupid again, and now Reira, along with a few other girls from the modelling company, had to entertain these pigs with Misa. 'Great. Even more people I would love to slap around,' she thought to herself, casting a glare in Light's direction, before staring at the chain that attached him to her precious detective. 'I'm running out of time...'
She looked up to Ryuzaki, and noticed his eyes were locked on hers. She felt her heartbeat quicken as her face heated up. "Are you sure you want to go through with this as well, Reira," he asked quietly, and she nodded, swallowing. "Yes, Ryuzaki. I want to be helpful in a way that is beneficial to the investigation." His eyes drooped slightly, and he replied, "That wasn't what I was talking about." She quirked an eyebrow at him, wondering what he meant by that, while Light sighed in irritation, muttering something under his breath. Suddenly, Ryuzaki's foot was in his face, and Light's fist was firmly planted against the detective's cheek.
Reira glared, getting up. The two of them stared as she walked up, obviously annoyed, while Matsuda, Mogi, and Chief Yagami looked on. At this point, they were careful not to bicker, ad Reira's temper would often get the best of her. The only one who never really received the brunt of her anger was Ryuzaki, and they all had an inkling of why, given her spontaneous acts of affection towards the strange man. Unfortunately, her patience had run out. She grabbed the two men by their shirts, pulling them away from each other roughly. "Is now really the time for this? You have more pressing matters, like Matsuda risking his life to help the investigation, and yet here you two are, acting like children and getting into petty, useless fights," she roared, butting their heads together. "Be grown ups for a change," she added softly, letting go of their now rumpled shirts and walking away.
Light stared after her furiously, rubbing his forehead.

Ryuzaki was quiet, as if contemplating what just happened, before saying, "She's right." Light rolled his eyes, aggravated. "You know, Ryuzaki, if you think she's so right, why don't you just marry her or something. Clearly, the girl's messing with your head by being here." Ryuzaki looked at Light, almost glaring at him. "I don't think you get to dictate that." Light gaped at him as he scratched his head. Ryuzaki thought for a moment before pulling out the key to the cuffs. He unlocked his half, reattaching it to the desk in front of them. "I'll only be but a moment. I need some air."

Light glared, stating, "Ryuzaki, this isn't funny!" Ryuzaki shrugged, taking off in the direction that Reira had previously taken off in. Matsuda laughed nervously, quipping, "I don't think Ryuzaki is kidding, Light."
Reira sat on a chair, still fuming. 'Do they really not see the trouble looming before them? All they do is bicker and hit each other!' She punched the side of the chair repeatedly, yelling, "Idiot! Idiot! IDIOT! This is serious!"
"I never acted as if it wasn't a serious matter, Reira," a voice said behind her. She turned, seeing Ryuzaki, shuffling his feet a little and looking away from her. She sighed, getting up and replying, " No, I suppose that you didn't. It's still silly to fight like that, you know." She walked up too him, pushing some of his soft, black hair away from his forehead. There was a rather large bump, and it looked like it was starting to lightly bruise. "Ah, I'm so sorry! I didn't think that it'd hit that hard," She said worriedly, attempting to place a light kiss on his forehead.

Unfortunately, just as she did that, Ryuzaki's head moved so that he could say something, and instead of his forehead, her lips landed on his. Reira jumped backward, blushing furiously. Ryuzaki touched his lips with his fingers, a small smirk tugging on the sides of his mouth. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm so sorry, Ryuzzaki," Reira stammered, still panicking. She had only ever kissed his cheek before, so this seemed like a  breach of personal space, to her. She covered her mouth, red engorging her [s/t] complexion. The softness of the detective's lips still lingered, causing her to try to scramble away.

She tripped over a side table and fell on the floor. She bolted upright immediately after, her haiir and clothes a mess, and her face still roughly resembling a tomato. Ryuzaki, who had still been touching his lips, looked over and asked flatly, "Are you alright, Reira?" She nodded, getting up and casting her eyes to the floor. She had never felt so embarrassed before in her whole life.

She heard the sounds of shuffling, and looked up. Ryuzaki was right in front of her. He looked her over carefully, making sure she wasn't injured too badly. Upon inspection, he noticed a light cut on her forehead, and he frowned. He then placed his hand under her [s/c] chin and tilted her face upwards before capturing her soft lips with his own. Her eyes widened, and then slowly shut before kissing him back. It was bliss. She had never thought this would happen. Saving him was one thing, but this... This was heaven for her.
She never wanted the moment to end, but unfortunately, he broke away from her. She covered her mouth with one hand, blushing. "W-W-What was that for, Ryuzaki," she stammered, still embarrassed.

Instead of answering, Ryuzaki touched his lips again and turned away. She frowned a little, reaching out for his arm to turn him back. She jumped when he spoke. " I believe I've become quite fond of you, [Name]." His voice was barely audible, and her eyes widened. "What does that mean, L?" She looked down, flustered beyond all belief.

After a few moments of silence, she pushed a little, "You know, I would love it if you answered me, Ryuzaki. Just saying something like that is..." She was cut off when a pair of arms wrapped around her. She blushed furiously as the detective rested his head on hers. After a moment, she wrapped her arms around him and sat in the now comfortable silence. Her heart was racing a mile a minute, and she could hear the pulsating in her ears.

After a few minutes, Ryuzaki let go of her. He finally said, "You're a smart girl, Reira. You figure it out." She looked up at him and smiled. It was all she had ever wanted. "I'll figure out a way to save you, Ryuzaki. I don't want to see you fall. I..."
"I know. It has become apparent that I feel the same way."
With that, the detective, whom she loved with all her heart, turned and walked back towards the main room, taking her hand in his and pulling her with him. They made their way back into the room, and Ryuzaki coughed before saying, "And that is why you shouldn't make people headbutt each other, Miss Reira. It's very unsafe. I would highly suggest that you apologize to Light."

Matsuda laughed, saying, "Reira's temper is something to behold, but I never thought that she'd do that, Ryuzaki!" Reira glared at Matsuda as best as she could, and scoffed, "Quit being an idiot, Matsuda. I'll headbutt your head with a desk." Matsuda jumped, before noticing the grin plastered on her face. "You know, I can't decide if that cheesy grin is making you seem like you're saying that affectionately, or if I should me more scared." He laughed nervously. Reira gasped a little and scowled. "Take it seriously, Matsu. I never break my word."
She looked down, realizing that she was still holding Ryuzaki's hand. She blushed a little and let go. He looked over his shoulder with a look that said 'Just go with it.' She sighed and walked over to Light. "I'm sorry I made you guys headbutt each other," she muttered, her tone unapologetic. Light glared at her before replying, "It's fine. You were right. This constant bickering is getting us nowhere. I guess you can be useful, after all."
"You watch your tongue. I don't mind headbutting people myself, you know!" She grinned menacingly before returning to her seat and continuing to work. Ryuzaki reattached the cuff to his wrist, much to Reira's dismay. She sighed, wondering when she'd be able to steal another kiss from the usually stoic man. 'Maybe Light is a heavy sleeper,' she thought to herself deviously, the grin returning to her face.
