Finally, the day that the task force would apprehend Higuchi came. Reira paced in her room nervously. Soon, Light and Misa would have their memories back. She dreaded the thought of having Misa discover her real name, and even more fearful of L's demise. 'Ugh, this is stressful.'
She heard a knock on the door and went to open it. Ryuzaki was standing there, handcuff and Light-free, with two pieces of strawberry cake in hand. She smiled and motioned for him to come in. He shuffled in and sat on the couch, placing the pieces of cake down on the table. Reira sat next to him, fidgeting a bit. "So, [F/n], today is the day that Light and Misa get their memories back," he stated simply, picking up a fork and digging into one of the cake slices. He motioned for her to eat the other piece. Reira smiled and picked up a fork as well, taking a small bite of the cake and replying, "Yes. Once we have the Shinigami in our possession, I'll be able to get that magic eraser." He nodded, contemplating the chances of her plan working.
Noticing this, she put her fork down and turned to him. "I have a 100% feeling this would work," she stated very matter-of-factly. He looked up at her, a smile tugging at his lips. She knew he loved his percentages quite a bit, which is why she used it. She was about to say something else when his lips touched hers gently. Her eyes widened and she blushed a little before kissing him back. The kiss deepened, and Reira found herself pinned to the couch with Ryuzaki on top of her. He pulled away, his eyes half-lidded and blushing furiously. "Ah, I'm sorry. I seem to have lost control of my actions," he stated flatly, getting up. She sat up, a little disappointed before replying, "It's okay, L. You know I...love..you" She muttered the last words under her breath softly, and he turned to her, his usually blank face mostly back to normal. "And I, you, [F/n]," He replied simply before returning to his cake. She smiled, returning to hers.
[Ahhhh time skip bullshit]
Reira got into the helicopter, despite Light's protesting, and fastened her seat belt. Like hell she was going to leave him with the Death Note up here. While she didn't care for Higuchi, she was hellbent on catching Light in the act.
When they had Higuchi in handcuffs and blindfolded, L requested that the note Chief Yagami and Mogi were panicking on the ground, screaming about a monster. L requested to see the notebook, and Reira unbuckled. The notebook passed from L's hands to Light's, and he started screaming. He then started checking out things on the computer while moving his hand oddly. Once he was done writing Higuchi's name, the man fell, dead. Reira grimaced, grabbing his wrist. "I'd like to see the book, too please." He begrudgingly handed her the book and she looked up. Rem was standing next to Higuchi's car, staring right at her with his mouth opened slightly. 'Hm, so he knows I'm not from around here, huh,' she mused smugly. 'This could work out in my favor.'
They returned to headquarters quickly to analyze the notebook. Reira looked around nervously, looking at Rem. He was staring right at her, almost confused. She stood up and said, "Well, I'll leave the technical stuff to you guys. I'm gonna take a shower." She sauntered over to the elevator, knowing Rem was still watching her. When she got to her room, she went into the bathroom. Fortunately for her, the surveillance still hadn't been fixed. She turned on the shower, and turned to the mirror. She jumped, seeing Rem right behind her.
"What are you," Rem asked, and Reira smirked. She replied, "Well, cat's out of the bag, isn't it? I know you can see names and lifespans, but I had no idea that you could tell I'm not from here." The Shinigami towered over her, glowering. "That isn't what I am talking about. Why can't II see your name or lifespan?" Reira's eyes widened, and she smirked. This could work out in her favor. "Well, like I said, I'm not from here."
"What does that mean?"
"I'm not telling."
She smiled, frustrating the Shinigami further. "But what I will tell you is that if you kill L, you will also die, and I will know. I will then use your Death Note to kill Misa Amane and Light Yagami. I'm not afraid." The Shinigami was taken aback, before replying, "So be it, human." She smiled, adding, "It's Reira. Oh, also I need that little magic eraser of yours, just in case you decide to screw me over and kill him anyways."
Rem was surprised, wondering how this puny human knew about the eraser. He handed it over to her, almost immediately regretting it. Reira's smirk widened, and she replied, "Thank you, Rem. Now, get back down there before they notice you've gone."
With that, the Shinigami disappeared, and Reira stepped into the shower. She had really wanted one. Rem showing up was unexpected. At least, now, she knew that she would be able to live long enough to save L. She giggled, proud of how she handled things. She definitely didn't expect that.
The days pushed on, and today was the day that L was supposed to die. Reira ran a hand through her hair, eyeing the eraser and wondering how she was going to pull it off. She remembered how Rem had looked when she confronted him in her bathroom. Thankfully, since the cameras were down, her threat had not been recorded, which she was thankful for. She went to the roof where she knew L would be. He was standing out in the rain, getting soaked. She sighed, calling, "You idiot, what are you doing?" He turned and saw her. He smiled, beckoning her to come forward. She smiled, hugging him.
"I got the eraser. It's in my pocket," she whispered into his ear, and he squeezed her to him tightly. "Now, you know what else you have to do, right?" He nodded, and she smiled, placing a light kiss on his lips before adding, "I'll see you inside."
On her way down to the main room, she ran into Light. 'Oh great,' she mused, frowning. Light glared at her before pushing her against a wall. "Reira, you need to stay out of my way. It'd be a shame if something happened to you," he said dangerously, his arm over her throat. She laughed, replying venomously, "Or what, huh? You'll kill me, Kira?" His shocked expression delighted her. Not as much as L's blushing face, but it was close. He let her go and spat, "Where is Ryuzaki?"
She laughed. "He's on the roof. Oh, and by the way," she muttered before kicking him between the legs, "As a certain, hunky detective once said: An eye for an eye, my 'friend'." She cackled as she walked away from his crumpled over in pain. 'Ha! I bet he didn't expect that one!'
A little while later, L and Light padded into the main room, still drenched. Reira smirked at Light, who cast her a glare. She smirked as they talked of executions and life in prison for the culprit when they caught her. She looked at Rem, who looked shocked. He looked at Reira, pure hatred on his face. She gave him a look that said, 'I promise I won't let them hurt Misa,' before turning back and inquiring, "What if this person is being forced to do this by the real Kira? I'm sure they could be pardoned, right?'
L looked at her confusedly, and replied, "I suppose. Their sentencing would probably be lightened, but not completely taken away." She glanced at Rem, who looked relieved almost. Soon, he disappeared, and the computer screens all went blank with a 'Data deletion' screen. Everyone started panicking. L suddenly fell over in his chair and Reira paled. Light caught him before he hit the ground, and she screamed. L was dead. That bastard double-crossed her. She was furious.
Reira started crying and ran out of the room, heading to the spot where she knew Rem had written in his notebook She picked it up and stuffed it in her flannel before Light got there.
Light glared at her, and she made the most shocked expression she could muster. "I just came to see if Watari was really gone, too," she started, "And I found this." She motioned to the sand that used to be Rem before looking up. "Now, what do you think it is?" He stared at her before disappearing from the doorway, She crumpled in a heap against the wall, sighing.
Once the bodies were loaded into an ambulance, she climbed into the back. Chief Yagami tried to stop her, but she refused. "I need to stay with him. I have to," she said, sobbing. The chief nodded, a solemn look crossing his face. "I'm sorry, Reira." The doors closed, and she whipped out the notebook. She pulled the eraser and got to work. Once she was done erasing Watari's name, she saw the body bag begin to stir. 'Well, at least he didn't screw me over on the stupid eraser,' she thought as she unzipped the bag. He was passed out, but he was breathing. 'Thank goodness.'
She then started to get to work on L's name. 'L Lawliet, you had better thank me for this when you wake up,' she thought as she finally scrubbed off the last of his name. His body bag, too, began to stir. She unzipped him, sighing and leaning back on the seat. She suddenly felt exhausted, and fell asleep.
'[F/n],' a voice stated simply. Her eyelids fluttered open, and met the pair of deep, black eyes of her favorite, beloved detective. "Oh, thank goodness you two are okay," she breathed, tears welling up in her eyes. "Don't cry, [F/n]. It's not very you," L stated before placing a kiss on her forehead. She smiled softly, trying to will the tears away. "I just...Rem... He betrayed me. I was so scared the eraser was a fake," she sobbed. L hugged her, rubbing her back.
When she finally calmed down, she looked around. They were on a plane. "I-I don't understand. Where are we?" L let go of her and replied, "We're headed to one of the Orphanages that Watari owns. We'll continue the investigation from there. Light will be caught, [F/n]." She smiled, nodding. "That's a good idea, but you shouldn't let the children know you're alive. Let Near do it. Please. For me?" He took a moment before replying, "Well, you know I'm childish, and I hate to lose, but if it's for you..." She smiled softly and rested her head on his shoulder. "Oh, also, don't let Roger let Mello and Matt go." He nodded. She sighed contentedly, closing her eyes once again.
[Time skiiiip]
It had been a few years since Light Yagami had died. Near had successfully apprehended him. It was unfortunate, but nobody could stop Mello and Matt from leaving. Thankfully, [F/n] had been able to guide them through staying alive, like she had L, and had succeeded.
[F/n] felt a little bad that she couldn't stop Misa from committing suicide, but it couldn't be helped. She couldn't live without that sadistic bastard. L had told her that she had done everything she could, but she still blamed herself for it.
Now, [F/n] was staring out the window of the Wammy's House orphanage, rubbing her full stomach. She looked down contentedly. It was all she had ever hoped for. She was having twins with the greatest detective in the world, and she couldn't be happier. She felt a pair of familiar arms wrap around her and rub her stomach. "Well, hello there, Mister detective." She smiled, turning her head and placing a kiss on his cheek. L smiled a little and replied, "Hello, Mrs. Detective." She laughed a little, saying, "Oh really? 'Mrs.,' huh? I like that."
And, to think, this all started with trying to draw a simple fan art.
