Four days have passed and Devin was still no where to be found. He didn't show up to class and I didn't see him anywhere in school. Every Time someone walked through the door, I would look up hoping it would be him.
I couldn't help myself but be worried for him. I wanted him to be here, even if we didn't talk, I just wanted him to be here and that's when I realized that I liked Devin, but I felt like crap because I know I shouldn't be going after boys like him. The boy who kept his heart far away from his sleeves. The boy who spend his time smoking, going to clubs, getting drunk and fucking the first girl he sees. The boy who has such a strong force about him that can overwhelm you. But this wasn't right, he wasn't mine, and I wasn't his.

"I want to remind you guy, that the project is due in two days" Mr.Garcia said disrupting my thoughts.

Oh shoot, I forgot about the project.

Ten minutes later the door bursted open but I didn't even care to look up. I just lost hope of it being Devin. So I just kept reading my book but suddenly I felt a figure next to me, a sound of someone sitting down on the chair next to mine got my attention. My heart stopped and suddenly began beating faster and faster. I knew exactly who it was. I could feel his presence. I looked to the side and there he was slouching down on the chair with a blank expression upon his face. But I did notice something that made me flinch, he was bruised. There was a cut on the side of his cheek, and his lip was slightly swollen on the corner. My eyes traveled down to his knuckles, they were also bruised with old blood still remaining.

"Devin, you're hurt" I whispered to him

"It's nothing Rose" he said without looking at me

"What do you mean? You're all bruised up, what happened to you?"

He simply just ignored me

"Devin, please talk to me" I begged

He looked towards me for like three seconds before placing his grey hoodie over his head, getting up from the chair and walking out the class room making sure he aggressively slammed the door shut from behind him making the posters around the classroom shudder from the force

Have I done something? I asked myself

I got up from my desk, gathering all my stuff and headed out the door to find him. It wasn't like me to just walk out of the class room in the middle of a lesson. But, I needed to find Devin. I needed to make sure he was alright. We weren't exactly friends but we did share moments together.

As I walked through the empty hallway, I noticed through the window, Devin was outside leaning against his car lighting up a blunt. I opened the door and made my way to him. I silently leaned on his car. He brought the blunt to his mouth as he inhaled deeply and then exhaled with relief. He blew a cloud of smoke into the fresh air, I unwillingly took in the smoke that lingered around me. I was forced to cough. My mind was at war with itself as it fought over on what to say to Devin. Once I finally gathered my thoughts and I knew what to say to him, he beat me to it.

"What are you doing out here Rose? Go back to class" he demanded

"No! Not until you tell me what's going on? Why are you bruised" I said getting in front of him trailing my index finger softly across his swollen lip. His breathing became heavy, and his jaw clenched. I looked up to his eyes, trying to figure him out. He stared back. But his face gave nothing away. His head was close to mine, but i wanted him closer, so close that our lips would meet.
