"So...Thranduil, what is this all about?" You asked him with a smile.

His sudden act of dragging you away from Nandriel was so unlike him. He sighed and turned to face you. His face was full of trouble and misery. The sight of it made your heart clenched painfully. What could make the prince that usually in a jolly spirit so sad?

You wished to ask him of it but deciding against it. To lift up your own heart you laugh. Thranduil frowned when you suddenly laughed for no reason. Fearing for you mental health.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Thranduil! You should see your face!"

'It'll hurt even more if I did not laugh, it hurts so much.' Nandriel's words rushed back into your head.

Thranduil shrugged his shoulder and dropped the subject. It was a normal occasion for you to sometimes laugh for no reason and he still did not get it.

"Now Thranduil, what do you need of me?" You skirted back to the topic.

"My father wishes to see you." Woah that was terrifying. What did the King need from you? Did you do something wrong? Is that why Thranduil look like he just have a meeting with Death itself?

"Is there's something wrong? Is it about what I've done?" You heart filled with dread. You know your voice was quivering but you care not. But as everyone else, you scare of the King's wrath. Even you always spent your time with the King and his son, it make him no less intimidating.

Thranduil eyes fixed upon your own and filled with concerned.

"I know not Mellon-nin, I wish I know. He love to keep things, even from me."

You took a deep breath and gave him a nervous smile.

"He wishes to see me now?" Thranduil nodded his head.

"Well then, better not to keep him waiting." You walked pass Thranduil without a second glance. Little did you know that Thranduil was watching you from behind until your figure disappeared from his vision.

The sky outside seemed to mirror your feeling as it darkened a bit and the wind started blowing through the trees. The wind created a hollow sound at it passed the empty hall, adding the dread you were feeling. Your chest heavy as you took step after step to the King's study. That is where he usually is when he needs you. Have you done something to displease the King? Did he had enough with your antics, teasing his son and have a way damn too comfortable life as the King's advisor? Unknowingly you had arrived at the King's study.

You very being oozing out the fear you were feeling. Somehow the thought of facing the King made you wanted to piss in your trousers. Not really an appealing thought. The study seemed to loom over you, like it was glaring over you. Your heart beating loud as your shaking hand slowly lifted up to hold the knob. You let go of the knob and knocked instead. Even though the King knew that you were to meet him and do not care if you did not knock, but still you did it anyway. Maybe if you hear his voice you could guess what mood he was in.

"Come in."

Darn it, his voice does not convey anything for you to interpret. You opened the door with a shaky hand and quickly bow down to your King. Much lower than what is necessary. You could see your own knees.

"(Y/N)? What has gotten into you?" The King voice sounded shock like he was genuinely surprise by your action. Even though it could mean that you are not in any immediate punishment, you will not risk it. Behind all of those facades, who knows what waiting for you? He could be a monster if he wishes to be.

You almost flinched when there was a sudden weigh on your shoulder. It was the King, he put his hand on your shoulder. Oh Valar, since when did you become so easily scare? You were a warrior for Valar's sake!

"Come now (Y/N), how many time have I told you that there is no need for you bow to me?" The elder let out a sigh.

"You like my own daughter (Y/N)." he said softly. He tried to make you stand up but your action flipped him out. You fell to your knees and cried out.

"Fo-forgive me my King for all the wrong I have done. Please...please don't banish me! I will walk to the pit of Mount Doom is you wants me to. Everything I have said towards Thranduil means no harm. I-I-I meant no harm when I call him a servant of Morgoth but him sure act like one! And-and-" You started to babbling in front of your King.

Out of the blue the King laughed. You quickly close your mouth and brows knitted together in confusion.

"My Lord?" You squeaked timidly.

Oropher just laughed harder and settle down on the floor, with legs spread apart. Obviously, not a kingly behaviour for him to display in front of his subjects. When he finally settled down his laughing fit, he looked at you with fond in his eyes.

"Your assumptions truly beyond imaginations (Y/N). I will do no such things but the name you gave Thranduil certainly surprised me. A devil he is." He wiped away a non-existing tear. "Walk into the pit of Mordor? Surely you did not think that I am that cruel." He smirked at you.

Oropher stood and walked to the balcony, motioning for you to do the same. He leaned on the railing and sighed. Gone his sudden humour replaced by his weariness that seemed to weight him down.

"I've been thinking lately." He sounded so serious and unnervingly defeated. You wondered why.

"Of what My Lord?" Oropher turned to you and smiled a bit.

"Of marriage."

Your eyes turned wide as the moon itself. "You-you want to marry again My Lord?!" And this time his eyes turned wide.

"W-what ME ?! Are you insane (Y/N)?!" Your face flushed with embarrassment and you hung your head down.

"Forgive me...I misinterpret thing... again."

The King just shrugged. "It's fine. I do get lonely in the throne room but not to that point. I have my wife waiting for me off the work. Don't let the Queen hear what you just said." he said with a small smile on his face.

"So...who is getting married?" You asked the King.

"Thranduil." Came the curt reply from the King.

Something inside you snapped. Somewhere deep in your heart feels so hurt like there is a fire burning in it. Why are you feeling like this? Are you jealous? No, of course not. Why would you? It is not your life.

"(Y/N)?" And you back to the Earth again.

"Yes my King?"

"You space out for a while. Are you alright?" You nod heavily.

"Yes. Does Thranduil know about this?" Your mouth tasted like ashes when you spoke it out. Oropher shook his head.

"No."

'Ah, so he still does not know of it.'

"Who is the elleth?" Somehow deep in your heart you want to know who managed to steal your Thranduil from you. No, not yours. Not your Thranduil. He is far beyond your level to be yours. Never yours.

"A certain princess that Thranduil had been dotting around." came the final answer.

A princess...a princess...

Nandriel.

There was no one else but Nandriel. Nandriel is your future princess and your future Queen to be. How fate had play with your life. Come now (Y/N).

'You should be happy for your friends...' you consoled yourself.

"What about the Queen then my King? Have you asked for her opinion?"

Oropher nodded. "I have and she agreed with my decision." You gave another lifeless nod. It is settled then.

"Very well My King. You may have my assistant when you need it. This marriage will surely bringing something for the kingdom." With no further exchanged you slipped out of the room. Leaving the King confused with your words.

"Why is the fate so cruel to me?"
