I stood there awkwardly, a little shocked by my mom's exit. I was kind of hoping she'd stay there with me to back me up. Guess that idea went out the window.
I cleared my throat and shifted my feet nervously. I was suddenly scared that he'd completely reject us and that all this was basically for nothing. Only one way to find out I suppose. Well I'm sure there's more than one way but that's not important.
"Um, hello, Your Highness. You know why I'm here already, sooo.. I'll just jump right into it." Yeah, great start Alexis. Thanks mom for ruining it for me. "I know that you're sad, or scared, or depressed or whatever, but that's no reason to completely forbid something so important to everyone. Forgive me, but in my opinion, that's quite selfish. I know you're the king and you do what you want, but you should also consider the thoughts of your people too." I could see I had made him mad. Oops. "I-I'm not trying to tell you how to rule your country, but..." I added quickly. My mind was racing. What to say next? If I don't get this right... "Um-" was all I was able to get out before he cut me off.
"I think I've heard enough, Ms. Ramilla. I will, uh, consider changing the rule. I'll let you know my thoughts in the next few days." He looked to our escort and he nodded. "If you could come with me, please," the escort said to me and he walked out. I ran after him hurriedly, not wanting to anger the king further.
When we got back to the car, my mom was already in it looking worried. When she saw us, she looked up in surprise with a questioning look on her face. "Back already? What happened?"
"Tell you at home," I replied.
--at home--
"So what happened, Alexis? You looked like you thought you messed things up big time."
"Uh, I think I did. I made him mad and he cut me off and said, 'I think I've heard enough.'" I repeated what he said in my best impression of a man's voice. "I blew it for us, mom." I put my head on the table.
"Oh, sweetie, I'm sure you did fine. We'll just have to see what happens."
