Mal's Point of View

While Ben was off looking for Carlos and Jay, I tried to find a cure for this freakin curse. I know my mom won't do the True Love's Kiss cure because that's the most basic cure ever. Even my mom isn't that stupid to use that cure for a curse again.

I continue to flip through the spell book my mother gave me but so far... NOTHING!

"I can't believe this. Where are you, you stupid curse." I continue to mumble to myself. Instead of trying to find a cure, I decided to try and find the curse, hoping to somehow reverse it.

"This is so freakin stupid. I can't believe my mother right now. Just fu-"

"Mal? Mal? Are you here?" I stop mid-sentence when I hear Evie's voice cut through my cursing.

"Up here Evie!" I finally take my eyes away from the old book and look to see Evie climbing up the stairs to the balcony of my mother's fortress.

"What's up E?"

"Guess what I just heard?!"

"What...? Should I be frighten?"

"I have no idea, but CARLOS AND JAY ARE TOGETHER!!"

"Like... dating together?"

Evie nods excitedly and I gasp, then squeal.

"Holy cow! I KNEW IT!" I start jumping up and down too, excited that my ship is finally sailing.

All of a sudden, I spot Jay and Carlos.

"CARLOS! JAY!" Both of the boys instantly turn to look at an excited and crazed Evie and me. They instantly back away, knowing something good is not going to happen.

"Yes Mal...?"

"Come here, friend." I cringe internally at that word. You don't learn those type of words here at The Isle of the Lost.

"Mal, we're not getting any closer until you tell us why you look so happy." I look at Carlos hiding behind Jay's back like his life depends on it and I start to smile wider.

"Can't I say hello to my best friends?" I try to give an innocent smile but that plan fails miserably.

"Are you okay? You look constipated?"

I give Jay a cold, hard glare. He instantly backs away and Carlos melts into Jay even more.

"Holy shit you guys are adorable!" We all instantly look at Evie, most likely for different reasons. I looked at Evie because she cursed but most likely Jay and Carlos looked at her in surprise.

I turn to the two boys to see my assumptions were correct. Both jaws look like they were slowly unhinging and eyes wide open.

"Close your mouth boys." Evie and I high five and I go back to my research.

"So what are you doing Mal?"

"Two words: Ben, curse." Evie doesn't say no more and I'm grateful for that.

"Is that why Ben was talking in a monotone, Mal?" I, again, give Jay a cold, hard stare.

"Yes Jay, yes."

"Well... good luck figuring out that curse. Sucker!" Jay grabs Carlos' hand and they walk out of my mother's fortress.

"I swear, they're going to end up getting married."

Instantly Evie's mood changes. I look at her left hand to see the ring missing.

"Evie? D-Did Doug break up with you?" She shakes her head no, tears so close to coming out.

"I-I did. He kept a secret from me and I was just so angry! I wasn't thinking and... and I cracked!"

I hold Evie tightly and I let her cry. I'm not use to comforting people, but when it comes to my best friend, I'll learn.

"It'll be okay. It'll be okay."
