She felt like her heart had been wrenched out of her chest.

The pain, the betrayal, the lies, everything just hurt.

So, she shed a single tear, and did the only thing she knew how.

She sucked all of the emotion in, bottled it up, and sealed it shut forever.

She withdrew into herself, and she ran.

She ran until the only pain was in her legs, her lungs.

She just ran away, until her broken, battered little heart couldn’t beat anymore.

She just ran; she ran until she passed.

And then—peace at last.

At long last.
