Doctor's POV

'She can't be real. She is too strong to not be real. It just seems too good to be true.' The girl I just left in the room looks so familiar. I don't want to hold onto a concrete thought though. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I have to know who she is. 'Maybe I can use the scanner to figure out who she is. Gather data on her past and sew together the missing pieces by talking to her. I should be able to help her.'
"Do you really want to find out who she is? Or are you just trying to find another mystery to keep your mind at ease." The all too familiar voice coming from the Tardis console. "What if you find out something that is worse than what you were expecting?" My Tardis is a spaceship. She can only communicate telepathically, but that takes years to form a proper connection. I have had hundreds.
'Are you insinuating that you know something about her? If you know anything, please feel free to share, cause I'm stumped. I have nothing to go on.' I turned on the scanner and tuned it in on Lucy. She is still asleep, but her mind is actively wandering. She is able to control her sleep and bypass the state I put her in. She can break away from Time Lord psychic and other mental powers.
"See what I mean. You may get a good result, but at the same time you may get a bad result. She is different and highly unique, but I can't decipher her human qualities or her biological make up. She is immune to my telepathic communication." The Tardis had no idea what to do about Lucy. If she can somehow get through and find out more about her, then maybe my mind can be at peace.
'Find out all you can. Set the scanner to read through her. Let me know when she breaks from the sleep. It shouldn't be long.' I am at a loss for words. Not only do I feel like Lucy is from Gallifrey, but she is immune to my Tardis. That doesn't just happen, she had to have been born on the Tardis or lived in it at some point. Even then I would take a while to form a telepathic connection to the girl and an exceptional amount of mental power to be able to block out other minds and a Tardis.
At the moment I let myself get lost in thought. This is quite a usual occurrence. My thought going to the possibilities and all the statistics that someone else from Gallifrey had survived or had not been on the planet when it was destroyed. There was a very slim chance. A chance so small that it couldn't even be a real chance.
"Doctor," my thoughts were interrupted by the Tardis, "She is awake."
'Good, I'll go talk to her right now and see what I can find out.' I had to know who she was. It was killing me that I couldn't identify one human. I started to walk out of the control room into the corridor but I stopped when I felt like something was wrong.
"Doctor, Lucy is in danger. Something is going after her in the halls. What should I do?"
"Show me Lucy on the screen, now!" Sure enough Lucy was standing in a cross of halls. Her location is deep in the Tardis; somewhere near the heart. "Show me how to get there! Where is she?" The Tardis brought up the quickest route to get to Lucy, then she started moving. I saw her running on the screen in a direction that led to the control room. The only problem was that the creature was closer than I thought and Lucy had found herself cornered.
"Doctor, I tried to save her. She has allowed me into her mind. She thinks I am a real person talking to her though. The creature is a centipede and it won't hold off for much longer. It's one of the more venomous ones too."
I knew I could make it so I ran. I ran til there was nothing left in me. I had to protect Lucy, and I didn't have Jack for help anymore. 'Why did I drop him off in Cardiff? I could use his help right now.' I followed the screams and hoped I was in time to stop the creature. And I was. I got there just as the centipede started to charge towards her and I heard her call for me.
"DOCTOR!" I ripped my sonic screwdriver out of my coat pocket and turned it on the creature until it vanished. I could see Lucy curled up against the wall, trembling. I couldn't stand to see her afraid.
I ran to her and wrapped her in my arms like a child. She was in shock and I fear she may have accidentally reopened her bullet wound, even though Jack said the medicine could cure anything in about 45 minutes. We had told Lucy to stay down to make it sound more realistic. "Are you okay?" I was trying to sooth her fear. She wasn't crying like I had expected. She is just in a little shock from being chased. I could feel her heart thumping hard.
"Yea." She became tense. "Where did it come from?"
"Well, originally they come from the planet of Centeria and they come in all sizes. Many different types too. The smaller and more venomous ones came to earth near the turn from the Ice Age...I mean, I have no clue where it came from. " I backed away from her and paced. I could normally tell people about what was going on in my Tardis but she is different. Somehow she seems to already know what is going on, even if she doesn't know yet herself. A piece of her has the answers and she won't let herself in. ""In fact, I don't know how it got in the Tardis to begin with."
"What did you say?" I didn't want to explain it all to Lucy yet. I needed to find out a little bit about her first.
"Hmm? Oh! oh, nothing. I was just thinking out loud."
"I've got some information on Lucy." My Tardis never fails. She always gets what is needed. "You may want to check this out, it's very unusual indeed."
I had to get back to the control room fast, so I decided to take Lucy with me. "Come on Lucy. Let's go to the control room. I think you'll find it quite fascinating." Without even questioning me she came. Everything about her was trust filled towards me. I have only known her for a day and she has already showed more faith in me than Rose Tyler did on her first day. The results better show some good data. I need some answers to keep me sane.
