Chapter8: King's Treasure

Last night was exhausting and I'm not talking about when I was in prison. We all sit down for breakfast. Finally time to get that damned treasure. We all finally learned how to read a treasure map. "Pass me the map kid." I tell Terra. She tosses it. I spend a couple of minutes looking at it. "Ah hell. Stupid kid. According to this map the treasure is in the kings castle not in the seas!" I shout. "We're still gonna take it aren't we?" Lockjaw asks. "Yup." I respond as I throw the map back at Terra. "No we most certainly are not!" Rose shouts. Her British accent makes it so hard to know if she's mad or not.

"The castle has at least 1,000 soldiers guarding it all day and night. We wouldn't make it to the front gates. Give me that damn map." She nags. She stares at it and cracks a smile. "This could actually work...look." She says sitting on my lap. Everyone else gathers around like children at a fire. "The treasure is actually located under the castle. There's a secret tunnel." She explains pointing to it. "So it looks like we'll be heading to Bickel island. It's not too far." I tell them.

"We've got more than enough to travel there too. It's about a week's travel." Terry estimates. "Then Lockjaw get ready to set sail, Rose pilot the ship, Terry count the cannon balls, and Terra go up to the crow's nest and scout for naval fleets. I'm gonna go to the Captain's cabin and make up a plan of infiltration." I demand. They all get moving. The next 5 days have gone by pretty damn smooth. But I haven't slept too well. I can't stop thinking about the mystery man in the black cloak who tried to kill me on Crush's ship.

I've been spending a lot of time in my room alone. Helps me think. I've almost got infiltration all planned and if we do it right then getting out should be just as easy. My door flings open. "Storm up ahead we need all hands on deck." Terry says as he runs bout out on the deck, he slips and falls on wet floor. I get up and run out after him laughing. I slip and fall too. Lighting strikes the water causing a massive shift in the water current. The ship nearly flips over. Rain begins to poor and the clouds cover the sky. The ship is out of control. "KEEP THIS SHIP STEADY LOCKJAW!" I shout at him. "Where's Terra!?" Rose asks. She's still up in the crow's nest (highest point on the ship) the latter to the nest falls down. "Damn it!" I shout. I run over to the side of the ship and begin climbing the rope. As the ship sways I almost fall off.

I finally make it to Terra. Trying not to fall. "Terra I need you to jump! I'll catch you!" I tell her. She shakes her head no. She afraid and I don't have time for this. "Listen up! If you don't jump you will die, it's a certainty! You jump and you got a chance of survival!" I shout at her. She stands up and jumps towards me. I almost miss her. She's hanging onto my hand but our hands are wet. "Climb up my back I can't hold you!" I tell her.

She climbs and my back and almost chokes me. I slide down the rope and put her down. "You ok?" I ask her. "There's a woman in a small row boat up ahead we have to save her!" Terra tells me. Damn. "Full speed ahead John!" I demand. We get closer to the small boat and I leap off of the edge of the ship. I current tries to sweep me away but I tied myself to the ship. I swim over to the ship and grab the woman. She's unconscious. I swim back to the ship. "Pull me up!" I shout. No one hears me. The thunder and rain is too loud. I get out my swords and climb up the side of the ship with the woman on my back.

"Get us the hell out of this storm!" I shout. 30 minutes later and we finally see the sun. We are all layed out on the deck, staring at the blue sky. Birds fly around. Maybe I'll just close my eyes for a moment..."Who the hell are you!?" A voice shouts. I open my eyes and the woman is standing above me. Black hair, purple headband, Hispanic, hazel eyes. "Five more minutes!" I tell her rolling over. I feel a blade touch my neck.

I look over and she's holding my sword at my throat. Everyone else is asleep. Crazy girl. I kick the sword out of her hand and trip her. I stand up and catch the sword. "We just saved you're life. The least you could do is shut the hell up while they try to sleep. " I tell her. She gets up. "should've let me die. There's nothing out there for me." She says looking over the side of the ship.
