My Best Friend's Father is My Mate

Chapter 7

I freeze when I hear the the one sound that could cause me to get caught. The tree branch I am on starts to crack. I must have been standing on the end of it took long. I freeze for a second which isn't smart since it makes another crack sound. I snap out of my fear and leap to the next branch. I land easily and hold onto the trunk of the tree. I make myself as small as i can and pray they don't see me. I stain my eyes to see what is going on below me. 

"What was that sound." One of them says to the other. I think it was Edward talking. I cross my fingers and hold my breath. If they look up and see me, I am toast. Not the gold brown deliciousness but the burnt toast. 

"I don't see anything or smell any wolves. It must have been the wind blowing in the trees. or a small animal. Nothing that is concerning." John says from below. But I don't  dare move to see if it is him talking. I waited till i hear their foots steps walk past me. Once I knew they are far enough away, I jump to the next tree. Once I was sure I was fare enough from the boarder, I shimmied down the tree. I started to sniff the air to see if I could pick up Skylar's scent. There are a lot of different wolves i am picking up. I have never had to distinguish one from so many before. "I can't pick up her scent. What should I do now?" I say through my link with Rosanna. "Come down you big baby. Just head farther into the territory. She can't live too far from here. Just make sure to keep your senses on alert so no one sees us."  I have no idea how she is remaining so calm at a time like this. I take a large breath and pick up Skylar's scent. I breaking out into a run, fallowing her scent. 

I run for a while till I start to see a house a head and slow down. There are a few houses littering the area. But none of them are where Skylar scent is leading. I slowly make my way through the tree trying to be as invisible as i can. Thankfully i learned how to be light on my feet a long time ago. I start to feel like I'm lost when her scent leads me to the biggest house i have ever seen. "HER HOUSE IS HUG!" i stand there for a second just taking in the size of it. "Close your mouth you will catch flies." Rosanna snickers at me. I quickly close my mouth. The house looks like a fairytale castle out of story books. It has a dark blue roof and cream stone walls  with windows everywhere. It's three stories high with what looks like a porch in the back. After gawking at the gorgeous house, I start my way around it to see if here is an easy way in. It is the alpha'a house, i guess that it is guarded or at least have some kind of security. 

I make it half way around the house when i see large french doors with no one near them. "Do you think we can make it?" I link Rosanna. if i make it there and unlock the door with my lock picking kit. I could look around the house for Skylar."Of course. Just run as fast as upi can there and get to work."  i close my eyes to listen for anyone outside.  After assessing that no one is there i do as she said and run as fast as i can. I make quick work of the lock and am i before anyone sees me. As i close the door and take a breath. i hear someone walking close outside. I take in the room i am in and even though it is very dark, I see perfectly thanks to my wolf eyes. It looks like some kind of library. I most have died and gone to heaven. I could live in this room. It has floor to ceiling book shelves with all kinds of books. a fire place and large reading chairs everywhere. "FOCUS!" Rosanna's yelling gets my head back to my task at hand. Find Skylar, save her if need be or warn her. 

I walk to the door and slowly turn the nob. i listen for a second to see if anyone is near by. After hearing nothing, I stick my head out and check for people. I didn't see any one so I step out of the room and shut the room behind me. I find Skylar's scent easily and followed it. I go slowly to make sure no one is about to pop around a corning. the scent leads me to a door up a set of stairs on the other end of the house.  I opened the door and walked in. I scan the room and see Skylar asleep on her bed. I sign in relief. "Thank Goodness Skylar is safe. We need to warn her to keep an eye out." I know Rosanna is right but i am filled with relief that it takes a second for my legs to cooperate." Ok let's see if I can wake her up. But what if she doesn't believe me?" I asked getting worried. Even i think i am being crazy right now."Tell her the truth. It's the only way." She says but I can feel her anxiety through our bond. Skylar knows about my gist but i have never shown her a lot of them.  I slowly move to her bed. taking a deep breath and i reach out towars Skylar. With a shaking hand, I shake her shoulder gently. "Skylar wake up its Aurora. I need to talk to you." I say softly. She starts mumble in her sleep but just turns over and for back to sleep. I try shaking her again.  "Hmm" she mumbles while blinking her eyes slowly. When she finally focused, she mumbled "Skylar what are you doing here?"

"You need to wake up completely. I have to tell you something. It is really important." I say looking down. My heart is beating a mile a minute. I stare at my hands like they are the most interesting thing in the world. I don't want her to think i am crazy or scared of me since i am so different. I hear her getting up but I can't look at her. She puts her hand on mine "anything you have to say to me i will lost. We are and always will be the best friends." I look up at her with un-shed tiers in my eyes. "I wasn't set into the forest to live in secrecy for nothing. I shifted on my tenth birthday. That is why i could shift when i saved you." I try to explain. "Why are you so worried about that? I have always known you were special. I haven't met anyone who could shift that early." Skylar's confusion is written all over her face. "It's not the end of the story. Please just listen and try to follow." I plea with her. She nods at me in understanding. I take a keep breath preparing myself for what I have to say. "Being a shifter qt 10 isn't the only thing that is different about me. It started when i turned 16.  I started to get these abilities. On my birthday, I understand what others are feeling, and a sort of sixth sense. I get a feeling of what is about to happen. But tonight i think i saw it. I saw you get taken and put in a cell. You were hurt. I just know it was real. I can't explain it myself but i knew i had to come help you." I say looking into her eyes. I try to convey how serious i feel about this. She fidgets and swallows hard before saying quietly "Are you sure?" i let a breath out. "I know it sounds crazy but i just know it is going to happen if i don't stop it. I couldn't just sit around waiting to see if you were ok so I raced over here to warn you or protect you if need be." I say with absolute seriousness. Skylar gets off the bed and starts pacing. "Skylar do you believe me? Are you ok?" I ask worried. She is my only friend. if she doesn't believe me then i don't know what to do. "I'm fine. It's just a lot to take in. I believe you because I can see how serious you are. Also you haven't lied to me before so why would you start now. You also would never come into pack territory if you were not serious. I knew you were a special werewolf from the moment i saw you but this is crazy. But what do we do now? How are you going to stop this from happening?" She says coming back to sit next to me. This is why she is my best friend. She believe me no matter what and takes all this weirdness is strides. I smile at her. 

"Don't worry. I won't let them take you. You are my best friend. Here is what I plan...." I get interrupted half way. The bedroom door opens to reveal a tall man with brown hair.

The only thing I can think is "oh sh!t"

I went back and edited the other chapters. I thought they could be better then they were.
