My Best Friend's Father is My Mate

Chapter 19

"Skylar I'm not your real father." Alexander said looking so distraught. Skylar just sat there in shock. "P-please ex-explain." She said barely about a whisper.

"I met your real father when I was about your age. He was 3 years older then me and the Alpha of another pack. Sebastian and I were best friends and got into a lot of trouble together pulling pranks. After we both became alphas, our packs allies. He met his mate soon after becoming alpha. Her name was Caroline and they loved each other a lot. They were so happy when they found out they were having a baby. And when you came into the world your father made me promise that is anything happened to them I would become your guardian. I didn't know when j promised that I would actually have to act on it." Alexander said looking so pained at the loss of his best friend. I could understand his pain.
If I lost Skylar I would be so devastated.

"T-they're d-d-dead?" Skylar asks on the verge of breaking down. I rub her back to try to calm her down. Alexander gets up and sits next to her, pulling her onto his lap and hugging her tightly. "Skylar they loved you so dearly. They made sure you were safe no matter what. I lied to you because that was your father asked of me when he died." He said while rocking her back and forth. "I-i don't und-understand." Skylar said still crying.

"The day they died, I got a call from your father saying they were under attack from rogue and they needed help. By the time I got there with my men, your father was already on the brink of death. your father fighting off 5 rogues trying to get to you and your mother. I tried getting to them but one of the rogue killing your mother before I could save her. I killed all the rogues around you. When the rogues were finally we're all killed, I went to your father and tried to keep him alive even with all the wounds he had. He wouldn't let me try to save him. He told me he knew he wouldn't service but want to make sure you would Skyalr. He made me promise to not tell any one that you survived the rogue attack. He begged me to say I was your real father. He knew about the woman that tried to sleep with me at my alpha ceremony but my wolf wouldn't allow it. Since some people knew about it, he wanted me to say she got pregnant and you were my child. He said the rogues were after you but he didn't know why. I promised him, I would do as he asked and keep you safe. He died right after I promised. You were 5 years old at the time and you were shaking so badly." He said remember the incident.

"I was just about to turn 21 at that time. I didn't know how to raise a child. We were both morning the loss of your parents. You wouldn't say a word to any one. I heard you one night screaming from a nightmare. When I woke you up and helped you calmed down, you spoke from the first time since the day you came home with me. You asked if I would stay with you and read you a bed time story like your father would always do. I read you sleeping beauty and you went right to bed." He said smiling down at Skyalr. She had finally calmed down enough to stop crying. Alexander wiped away the tear stained on her cheek.

"After that you started talking more, laughing and going out of the house more. Eventually you forgot about your parent's death, which the pack Doctor said was most likely due to trauma. When you started asking about your mother, I told you what your father wished me to say. It pained me to lie to you but I knew I had to protect you. And after those rogues took you when you were 9, I knew I couldn't tell you the truth without putting you in jeopardy. I am truly sorry I didn't tell you the truth till now. I have always considered you my daughter, blood related or not. I got to see you grow up into a woman I know your parents would be proud of because I know I am. I know it will take you some time to come to terms with all this but I hope you still see me as your father because I love you like you were my own." He says kissing her forehead at the end.

Skyalr wraps her arms around Alexander's neck, hugging him tightly. "I will always love you daddy. You might not be my blood related dad but as you said you have always been here for me as a father. I am upset that you lied but in a way I'm glad you did. I got to grow up with a loving father and lived a happy life. I am sad my parents died but you took me in when I had no where to go. Thank you daddy." She says still hugging him. He hugged her back and they just stayed like that for a while. I swear i saw a tear roll down Alexander cheek.
