Louis POV:

This past week, I've been kind of avoiding Harry and everyone else. I'd get out of the house as soon as possible and get in as late as I could. Even now, I was at the Nando’s I worked in. I had begged Mr. Roberts, the manager, to let me work extra shifts and he agreed. I worked hard and tried not to think about the whole shitty situation but when I lay down at night, nothing could stop the memories returning or the tears falling.

I wasn’t sleeping properly either, continuous nightmares, all different yet the same. I was always alone, in the dark, in a forest, on a boat in the middle of the sea. Harry would take me there and then leave me with no way out. I woke up with tears streaming down my face, sobbing and blubbering.

Mum hasn’t noticed yet, her room isn’t exactly close to mine so I think the noise doesn’t reach her. It’s better this way, she doesn’t have to experience her only son’s first heartbreak. Sigh, I really need to get myself together.

"Take this to Table 7, Lou, OK?" Zayn, my co-worker tells me, handing me a plate of steaming food. "Mm 'Kay." I take the plate and walk over to the table. "Here you go, sir, ma’am. Hope you enjoy the food." I set down their plate and turn around as the doorbell chimes, announcing another customer.

I see the familiar blond hair and smile slightly, Niall. He’s a regular customer, studying at the nearby university. I go over to him and lead him to a table near the kitchens because I know he’d want to see Zayn. "Hey mate, the regular? " I ask him as he sits down. "My food is cooking as I speak, Louis. Why do you even bother? Where’s Zayn by the way, isn’t it his break time already?" I smirk. "And how would you know when his break time is? Even he doesn’t remember it at times?" Niall blushes and stammers. "N-No, it’s just he’s usually out here when I come by and he’s not today."

"Lover boy is inside, cooking your meal because Josh was sick and there’s a new cook and Zayn thinks he wouldn’t cook Precious Niall’s precious meal properly so he took it upon himself to cook for you. He should be out here soon." Zayn comes out with Niall’s food that very moment and Niall just looks down at his hands, smiling. He's so cute, first he keeps talking about Zayn and when Zayn comes out, he can't even look at him. "Hey Niall, here's your food." Zayn greets Niall who mutters a hey back.

"Louis, I'm taking my break now and so are you. we need to talk." He takes a seat next to Niall and motions for me to sit down. I take a seat, knowing I will probably regret this.

"So?" Niall prompts. "So what?" I ask, feigning ignorance. "So spill, don't act oblivious. What's going on? Why are you moping around? I thought your boyfriend, what's his name - Henry - was coming back?" I should have known Niall would be blunt. He's not exactly known for being subtle.

"His name's Harry and nothing's going on. Why do you think I'm moping?" I try denying everything.

"Lou, you've spent more time working in the past week then I've spent at restaurants in my whole life. Something has got to be up. You hate this place, you always moan about getting out of here and doing something with your life, so why are you always here?"

"Nothing to worry about, Niall. I'm just trying to be more responsible"

"That's bullshit, Lou and you know it." Zayn speaks up. He leans forward and places his hand over mine on the table. "We're your friends, Lou. We worry about you, especially when you spend more time at this dump then you do anywhere else. Please tell us what's wrong?"

I can't tell them now, I'll break down and I won't be able to control myself. But they aren't going to give up. What have I gotten myself into? "I'll tell you guys but not now. We need to get back to work, it's almost rush hour and Joey won't be able to handle them by himself." I try stalling. "I'll be back when you guys shift ends, we'll go out for drinks and you will talk Lou! No excuses, you have to tell us everything."
