Chapter 2: Childhood Frenemy?
"The U-Hauls just got here about an hour ago so they're still unpacking some of your things but, besides that everything seems to be set." Jeff, our new driver that had picked us up from the Helipad in Connecticut explained to us as he pulled up to the circular driveway of a house that while was practically foreign, was vaguely familiar.
It was still the same from when we left down to the sign near the entrance that read, "Welcome to Blake Manor."
I know cliché but, my mom put it there so that our unnecessarily large mansion looked a little more homey.
Not that it could though. Even when both my parents and me and Colton lived there we still had 4 extra guestrooms, 3 living rooms, 3 garages, 5 entertainment dens, 2 kitchens, a cabana, an Olympic sized swimming pool, a tennis court, a personal library, and I really couldn't even tell you how many bathrooms.
So yes, this place was grossly unnecessary but, as I stepped out of the car and looked up at the Bohemian styled architecture and the large pillars next to the tall iron double door entrance I couldn't help but, feel a strange sense of stability that I haven't felt in so long.
"It's just like we left it." Colton said proudly as I heard the loud thump of the doors closing behind him.
"Well it's not like anyone else has been here since then." I remarked and pulled open the heavy doors with force making one of them almost hit Colton.
Man, that would have been such a shame...
As soon as I stepped foot into the ballroom styled entrance a wave of flashbacks hit me.
6 years earlier
"Cole, I'm open!" I shouted to my mean older brother as he bumped the soccer ball we were playing with from one knee to the other while I impatiently waited for him to let me kick it around for a little bit.
"I can do more than you!" Colton bragged as he continued bumping the ball back and forth.
He was probably on his 7th knee bump when I intercepted the ball in the air and stuck my tongue out at him.
"Hey, not cool Lexi!" Colton did his notorious scowl and I ignored him and started bumping the ball back and forth between my knees.
"1,2,3,4_" I counted every time the ball would hit one of my knees and Colton only watched unimpressed as he crossed his arms against his chest.
"Alexandria, what did we say about playing soccer in the house!" I heard a very stern voice coming from behind me and I instantly knew it was from my dad.
I stopped mid bump letting the soccer ball hit the floor as I turned around and starred at the tall, man with slicked back brown hair walking down the steps.
"That's what I told her dad." Colton butted in and I turned to him and gave him a dirty look before I heard a shrill but, almost musical laugh come from the opposite hallway.
"Colton don't try to blame this all on your sister. I heard you two in the study." My mom walked up behind my brother and put a hand on his shoulder as she looked behind me at my father.
"Well I have to practice if I'm going to make to be playing for the U.S men's soccer team in a few years. What's Lexi's excuse?" My brother exclaimed and both the parents laughed like it was the funniest thing they have ever heard.
They did that a lot, Laughed like they had these inside jokes with one another that no one else knew about it.
"Well Lexi is going to be the next Mia Hamm and besides Colton how are you going to play international soccer when you're running Blake Incorporated one day."
