*Taylor's POV*

"Why won't this little creeper stop staring at me?!" I thought to myself. He literally had been staring at me almost the entire time we'd been in class. I'd stormed into the building after Melanie rudely embarrassed me in front of everyone, and not long after, this new kid followed. He walked in, his eyes scanning around the room, searching. His eyes happened to fall on me, and for a second we just stared at each other. Our eyes locked. His eyes taking me in and my eyes critically evaluating him. In the few seconds our gazes remained connected, my eyes traced the structure of his face, attempting to find some sort of clue to what kind of personality he had. He seemed to have a kind face but if he was hanging out with Brittney and Melanie who knows what he's really like! I saw the way that that Brent kid was, and if Brent and Alex were brothers, which I assumed they were, I wouldn't be surprised if under his sweet face, he was actually a big fat jerk.

I was suddenly jerked back into the real world when I heard Mr. Flate say rather angrily, "Miss Green, if you could please tear your eyes away from Mr. Hoffman until I'm done teaching this lesson that would be magnificent!" I could feel myself blush as the entire class turned to look at me, and as I looked away from Alex, I almost thought I saw him blush too.

"Why did Mr. Flate have to say it like that?" Couldn't he tell that I was CRITICALLY staring at him, not LONGING staring at him?!" Ugh. What a great beginning to the day!

*Alex's POV*

"I can't believe Mr. Flate embarrassed us like that!" I thought to myself as I looked down at my blank but suddenly interesting paper. "His back was turned to the class the entire time! How did he know?!"

When we finally were given some free time to work on our assignment, I let my eyes drift back towards Taylor. She was hunched over her desk, eyes fixed on her paper, writing furiously. Why was I so intrigued by her? I mean seriously? She was just another tom boy! I'd seen a few of them back home, but they never held my attention for long. My 'attraction' to her was actually beginning to fluster me, because I just couldn't figure out why she was so mesmerizing to me! Sigh... Maybe the stress of the move was messing with my head.

*Taylor's POV*

When class finally ended, I hurried of to math, and guess who got to sit next to me. Yep, it was Mr. Alex Hoffman. Great.

The first part of class went by fine. I only caught Alex staring at me once and a quick session of shooting daggers at him changed that.

Finally Mrs. Bright was done teaching her lesson and we were given time to work on our paper. Unfortunately for me she'd allowed everyone to work with a partner. So, it was far too loud for me to concentrate very well.

"Would you like to be my partner?"

The sudden deep voice beside me startled me and it actually made me jump. I whipped my head around and looked into the brown eyes of Mr. Hoffman. His black hair fell into his face barely brushing his right eye and his cloths gave him away as obvioiusly being from the city.. I sucked in my breath as his eyes held my attention. They were such an interesting brown. Not too dark, but obviously not hazel. They held a undescribable fire. I ripped my eyes away from his and began to shuffle through my binder trying to find something that would help this awkward situation.

"Uhh... su-su-sure." I stuttered not meeting his gaze. I rarely ever got asked to be someone's partner, and now the new kid was asking me!?

He scooted his desk closer to mine. Was that a look of relief I saw on his face? "Quit kidding yourself Taylor! If he's relieved about anything it's most likely because he was worried he would not have someone to cheat off of!" I angrily thought, willing myself not to look at him. Well, this should be interesting!
