*Alex's POV*
Holy cow. She actually agreed to that? Huh, for some reason I thought that would be trickier. Well, cool! Now I gotta a reason to talk to her! But why did I want to talk to her? I hadn't planned on that whole promise thing. It just frickin' come out of my mouth! I guess it's time for me to turn on the charm and show her she's gonna have to give me a better nickname then 'City Boy'. Wait a minute! What did I just say?!
*Taylor's POV*
I left Alex with our parents and put Samson up. That horse, he ate like he was starving or something. "Pig." I muttered to myself as I walked away from him. Finally, I joined the group of chattering people surrounding little Clark.
"Taylor, say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman." My mom urged.
"Hi!" I greeted them and reached to shake their hands.
"Hello!" They replied smiling kindly. "Nice to meet you. Oh, and this is Brent, our oldest son."
"We've already met." I said trying hard to hide the fact that I really could have gone my whole life without meeting him. He must have seen my expression because he just smirked at me when we shook hands. I also noticed Alex glaring at him. What was with this dude? "So," I began with a knowing smile, "are you guys in love with Clark yet?"
"Yes!" Mrs. Hoffman shrieked. "I can't wait to take him home!"
"Well, if all goes as it should, you will mostly likely be able to pick him up tomorrow!" My dad said looking down at Clark with a loving look. I knew dad was gonna miss him.
"I'm gonna miss him." I stated. It was the truth. I had never had a dog of my own, even though we had plenty of dogs, none of them had ever really preferred me over any other member of the family. And against my rationality, I'd hoped Clark could end up as mine.
"I'm sure you can come visit him whenever you want." Alex said looking hopefully towards his parents.
"Oh yes, whenever you wish to see him your welcome to come by!" Mr. Hoffman said nodding.
"Yeah Tay Tay," Brent said strutting his way to my side a cocky grin on his face and his chocolaty brown eyes locked with his brother's piercing brown ones. Wrapping his arm around my shoulder he drew me into an awkward hug. "and we can get to know each other when you visit too." He finished, looking at me with a devilish gleam in his eyes.
"Umm... yeah, sure...." I said eyeing at him oddly. I was not gonna let him 'get to know' me. I'd sooner have Alex 'get to know me'. Holy crap did I seriously just think that? I blushed as I realized what I'd just been imagining. Oh grand! Now Brent probably thought that blush was because of him!
Brent backed off. Obviously pleased with himself, and Alex was looking at me with an expression I couldn't quite place. Hurt maybe? No, that was preposterous.
"Maybe we could have you all over for dinner sometime?" Mr. Hoffman (William) quickly suggested, after noticing how my father was staring at Brent with a murderous look in his eyes. Though we all knew that Brent was (most likely) kidding, my dad wasn't gonna take any chances with such things.
Brent kinda shrunk behind Alex when he saw how everyone was glaring a him. Chicken. Was I all I could think at the moment.
"Well, we must be off!" Mrs. Hoffman (Myra) said backing slowly towards the car and grabbing her sons' arms. "We'll see you tomorrow?"
"Hopefully so." My mom replied, "We'll be in touch!"
"Okay, goodbye!" We all chanted in turn.
*Alex's POV*
"Brent!" My father, shouted, "What in the world were you thinking saying what you did?! I thought we said to be on your best behavior!"
"Sorry Dad, I didn't realize you all would take me so seriously. And bro, don't worry, I wasn't serious about any of that. She's all yours." He finished with a wink.
"Shut up, Brent!" I huffed turning to look out the window. Ugh, why's he got to be able to see right through me?
