*Alex's POV*
Gravel crunched under my feel as I walked down the driveway. I seriously haven't reached her yet? Good grief! How slow is this girl?! I wondered as I continued down the driveway. I turned a small corner and came face to face with a long brown face. I leaped back in surprise, as did the horse.
"Whoa! Easy Bandit, easy!" Taylor said gently stroking the horse's neck. When the horse was abit more at ease she looked at me angrily. "What were you thinking sneaking up on us like that?! Could you not tell earlier that he was hyped up?!"
I stared at her amazed. Did she seriously think I had meant to scare the beast? All I wanted to do was to come find her, and now that I had she was yelling at me?! What the heck?! "Well, I'm sorry I didn't realize that you two were just around the corner! You both were very quiet! It's not like I purposely tried to scare the brute!"
"He's not a brute!" She exclaimed with fire in her eyes. "What where you doing just randomly walking down my driveway anyway?!"
"You're parents wanted you to hurry up, nothing more! Why else would I come searching for YOU?!" A look of hurt flashed across her face. Oh gawd, I thought, that didn't come out right! But before I knew it, a mask of anger replaced the hurt look.
"I don't know! Why do you think I asked?!" And with that she pushed by me, causing me to quickly step backwards to prevent myself from being ran over.
*Taylor's POV*
Who does he think he is to say such things to me?! I mean seriously?! What have I ever done to him?! We've only know each other for 2 days! What a jerk! And now Bandit's all hyped again! Stinkin' Arabian! Why's he gotta be so hot blooded?!
Finally I reached the barn. Why are they looking at me so oddly? Oh please tell me they didn't hear us shouting!
"Taylor, where's Alex?"
"Oh. Alex? Uhh... He saw something interesting, and told me he'd catch up. See Mom! Here he comes now!"
"Oh yes, okay. Well, please put Bandit up and then hurry and fetch Sam. He's gonna go nuts if he doesn't get his dinner soon."
"Of course, mom." I said walking off towards the barn. I put Bandit up and gave him some food and fresh water. "Now off to get your monster of a brother!" I said stroking his muzzle as I closed his gate. Switching halters I hurried out of the tack room, only to run into Alex. Seriously, of all people to run into it just had to be him!
"Taylor, I need to talk to you."
"I haven't got the time, Alex!" I snapped going around him.
"But Taylor I-"
"If you really must talk to me then you can walk with me."
"Um. Okay" he said falling into step beside me. After we passed our parents and his brother, he started to speak again. "Taylor, what I said earlier, I wasn't like that. I hadn't meant for it to come out like that." He stepped in front of me so sharply that I nearly ran into him for the 2nd time today. I looked at him, both confused and frustrated. "Taylor," he started, " I'm sorry."
All I could do was stare at him in surprise. No one else had ever apologized to me after hurting me before. Maybe he wasn't that bad. I had the sudden urge to smile and hug him. Wait, what?! Taylor get a hold of yourself! He's just being kind! Don't get carried away! And don't forget about- No! I can't go there! That's a storm just waiting to happen.
"Um... Er... I uh...." I stuttered breaking eye contact. His gaze was too intense. "It's fine. Forget about it."
"But do you forgive me?"
I stared at him for a moment. Why did he want my forgiveness so bad? It looked like he was sincere too. "Yes Alex, I forgive you." He broke out in a grin and began to walk down the road again. Only my eyes followed him. My mind was too busy thinking up a hurricane to tell me legs to move.
"You coming?" He said gazing at me oddly. Only then did I realize I was staring at him.
"Oh! Yeah, sorry. I was... um.... thinking." I replied jogging to catch up. We were silent. I couldn't help but steal glances at him. I loved how he walked. He didn't strut, but he walked in a way that would be intimidating to most anybody. He was still smiling too. Why was he still smiling? Was he making fun of me in his head or something? Oh Taylor, just halter the horse already!
