My hand trembled as I opened the note. It had his name on it with his phone number. I just got a celebrity's phone number!!! Holy Crap! My mind was running a mile a minute but no thoughts were actually being processed. I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Earth to Toya!" Bekah was grinning at me. I guess she had tried to get my attention a few times. "So are you going to call him?"

Before I could answer, Coach called out and said we had 10 minutes to get our food and be back in the van. Kyle and Bekah went to get their food while I numbly walked to the door. It then hit me... the excitement and thrill of a crush and dream come true. I was walking on air! I got in the van and had to slide way over so not only Bekah could slide in, but also Kyle. Apparently he didn't want the front seat anymore. Bekah noticed that his knees were touching the seat and said "Don't you want to sit up front? Your legs are going to get cramped!" He just smiled and said, "Nah, I'd rather be back here." He winked at her and of course, she blushed on cue. I couldn't help but add, "You know, Bekah, if your eyes get any bigger, they would swallow your face!" Kyle looked at her eyes then froze. I could see the look on his face as his eyes lowered a bit. He needed a distraction before he did something dumb!

"How's your hand, Kyle?" He glanced down at his still red and slightly swollen knuckles. Every other girl in the van heard the conversation and leaned in to inspect Kyle's hand.

"Who did you hit?!" asked an astonished Sherilyn. All the girls echoed her question and crowded in as close as possible to hear the story. Kyle flexed his biceps and put his left arm on the back of the seat to rest just barely on Bekah's shoulders. She turned red but didn't tense up like usual.

Kyle grinned and said, "Well, some jerk decided to try to mess with Bekah, so I took him out. I tried to be nice, but the guy just wouldn't quit! I even had to have a chat privately in the parking lot after."

I looked up at him sharply. "That's what took you so long to come back. What did you do?" Even Coach gave him a wary glance.

"Well, he was on his way back inside so I kindly escorted him to his car." Everyone knew Kyle was lying. Kyle was about to go on but paused. He brought his hand up to Bekah's cheek and wiped a tear that had escaped. He let his hand linger as his knuckles brushed her cheek. He was being so gentle that I had to look away for a second. He tilted her chin up to look in his eyes and said in a deep voice, "I am not going to let him ever hurt you again. You trust me right?" when she nodded and leaned in to his side, he rested his head atop hers.

One of the girls began to ask for the rest of the story, but I quickly turned and gave them a glaring, evil look that silenced them. I was so not letting them spoil this moment.
