Dylan caught on fast to the game, but Kyle seemed determined to nail him with the ball every chance he got. OK maybe he Did see the kiss after all. I was going to have some apologizing and explaining to do later, but right now I could not get that kids out of my head!
It wasn't even that good of a kiss! He has probably kissed a bunch of girls before. I thought that last one and frowned. Dylan caught my look but didn't have time to say whatever he was planning because right then Kyle spiked the ball at his chest. It hit with a sharp smacking sound. We all paused and looked for his reaction. Kyle got the appropriate I'm -so-sorry look on his face and took a step forward. "Ah man, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit it quite that hard."
Dylan winced and pulled up his shirt to inspect the damage. I Tried to look away.... HONEST I did! But I couldn't! He had 6 perfectly defined abs. There was a red mark that looked as though it would be an ugly bruise and welt by morning on his right pectoral muscles (which were also perfect). The combination of all this made it completely impossible for me to unglued my eyes from his exposed chest. I was totally chest. "Don't sweat it. I'm fine.," Dylan responded calmly.
Bekah cleared her throat and gave me a look that said, "Quit staring!" I blushed clear to the roots of my hair. I had to force my eyes to the floor, but not before I heard snickers and giggles from the other girls.
Bekah swatted Kyle on the arm and said, "You did that on purpose!" He played along and flinched though I'm pretty sure it didn't hurt. "I said I was sorry Bekah." She leaned in and whispered to him, "You need to be nice to him.. for Toya! Or maybe I won't include you when we all hang out tomorrow." She said this with a grin, but it faded quickly to a look of suspicion when Kyle began to grin wickedly at her.
He held up his hands and wiggled his fingers in a menacing way and said, "Oh really?"he held out the words. She began to back away slowly saying, "Kyle.... What are you planning?...." He lunged at her and she squealed but managed to barely dodge his hands. She took off running out of the gym, kicking her shoes off as she went. Kyle chased her out and down the hall.
I panicked and went racing after them knowing that Kyle can get caught up in the moment easily and might do something that would make Bekah uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, she would totally enjoy it, but perhaps regret it later after the rush faded.
It vaguely registered that Dylan was now chasing me. I looked over my shoulder and saw his grin. He was not helping me catch those two lovebirds... he was joining the idea of the guy chasing down his girl. As I thought of what he might do when he caught me, my stomach twisted in pure delight.
I wasn't sure if I wanted him to catch me, so I used my superior knowledge of the school building to my advantage. I went down dark hallways while he had to slow down so he wouldn't trip. Pretty soon I was ahead enough that I could dart into the teacher's lounge room and crouch under the table. I was hidden by the shadows so I took a moment to catch my breath. I could still hear Bekah shrieking as Kyle must be getting close to grabbing her. Goodness knows what he was planning on doing, but there was no way I was risking leaving my hiding spot to go stop him from going too far. He would just have to deal with the consequences of Bekah's regret later himself.
I heard Dylan walking down the hallway checking classrooms. He paused outside the room I was currently hiding in but didn't come in. He left and I heard the sound of the end door opening and his footsteps on the stairs. I exhaled loudly, not realizing I had been holding my breath. I crawled out from under the table and made my way to the door. As I reached the doorway an arm came out and snatched me around the waist pinning me up against the person's chest. Another hand covered my mouth just as the scream that was building in my throat erupted.
I could feel Dylan's chest vibrate as he chuckled. He turned my body so I was now facing him. Then with a sudden twist of his body he had me pinned between himself and the wall. There was absolutely no room between us as he leaned in close to my face and whispered, "Gotcha." I could feel his lips brushing mine as he said those syllables. I shivered and because he was so close, he felt it. His hands came up so he straddled my face just like in the old movies. He looked into my eyes and said, "I need you to be completely honest with me." I nodded, not trusting my voice at all. "Were you checking me out when I lifted up my shirt?" I could feel my cheeks flame with color and he smiled. "I thought so," he said with a satisfied smirk. He looked back down at my lips and I thought I would pass out of sheer excitement. He again looked in my eyes as if asking for permission. Not wanting to wait any longer, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his. He was surprised at first, but then moved his hands to my neck and face and pressed his body against mine further pinning me in place against the wall. We kissed for goodness knows how long. All I know is that when we finally broke apart, we were both gasping for air.
After a moment Dylan reached out a hand and stroked my face. "That kiss is going to replay in my head over and over till I memorize every single detail of you." He let his hand drop from my face to stroke down my arm and then link hands with me. He went to lean in again but restrained himself, shook his head, and said regretfully, "I need to get you back there Before this goes any farther."
"Do you want it to go farther?" I asked him in a moment of bravery.
He looked me in the eye and my heart skipped a beat. He turned back to face the door as he mutter, "Absolutely."
