In order to avoid a search party, Daryl and I went back to camp soon after we had our fun. His hand stayed on the small of my back until we got back to camp, when he lowered his hand but still walked close to me. I almost rolled my eyes. Leave it to Daryl to only be discreet around people.
Everyone was milling about, doing the chores for the day. Shane was standing on the RV, and he frowned when he saw us. He climbed down and approached us. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Here we go again.
"Where the hell have you two been? We were getting ready to send out someone to look for you!" Shane snapped, faking concern.
"Yeah, I can see everyone is so worried about where the hell we've been. You all look beside yourselves with worry," I said, brushing past him and going to sit by the fire. I saw Lori and Carol crack a smile over the dishes they were washing.
"We are a group. You tell us when you are going somewhere. And you tell us why the hell you have to leave in the first place!" Shane spat, walking towards me.
"Where's Rick? I believe he's our leader, not you. And I also believe that you should mind your own business," I spoke triumphantly.
"This is a group effort! You need to keep us informed at all times!" Shane spit out in anger.
I stood, and he flinched back a little. "I'm going to the bathroom. Would you like to check to make sure I don't run off?" I said sarcastically. His face turned red, and he stalked off.
I sat back down, not really having to use the bathroom but just trying to annoy Shane. Lori came over and kneeled beside me. "Can I have a word with you?" she asked quietly, almost with a whisper. I nodded and we both stood.
She led me to the furthest edge of the camp and then stopped and turned to me. "I'm pregnant," she admitted quickly. My jaw dropped, but I quickly snapped it shut. Pregnant, here?
"Are you sure?" I finally managed.
"Yes. I had Glenn get the test when he went in to town a few days ago," Lori explained.
"What are you going to do?" I asked her quietly.
"I don't know what to do. Hell, I don't even know if it's Rick or Shane's. I'm so confused right now. I have no idea what to do. I don't want this baby to live in this world, but I think it might be too late," she said.
"Have you told Rick?" I asked softly. She shook her head. "You need to tell him. You're going to need so much for yourself and that baby that we're gonna have to start getting it now. And you can bet that I'll be there for the delivery and for that baby every step of the way after that," I assured. She nodded.
"Thank you," she said. I gave her a hug.
"Everything will be fine. Rick will love the baby if it's his or not, and everyone around you will help take care of the both of you. Everything will be just fine," I promised. She nodded again and we made our way back to the camp. Daryl raised his eyebrow, asking the question that I couldn't answer.
At lunch time, Glenn came up to us with an anxious and slightly terrified look on his face. "The barn's full of walkers," he said breathlessly.
We all turned to him, our eyes wide and our jaws on the ground. The barn? Full of walkers? It couldn't be true.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked, breaking the silence. Glenn looked really embarrassed.
"I was, uh, taking a, er, midnight stroll, and um, heard the moans," he said, looking at his feet. I could tell he was lying but we had bigger problems.
Shane, Rick, and Daryl all stood simultaneously, grabbed a weapon, and took off for the barn. Andrea and I exchanged a glance and followed after with guns for ourselves.
