I began to wander. I had my gun in my belt so I wasn't very worried about getting attacked or anything. I made sure to stay out of the woods, but I explored most of the campground. There was a lower level that I hadn't been to, so I spent most of my time down there. There were a few permanent sites down there with trailers on them. I made a mental note to take a few people back down here with me so we could clear them and loot them.
The sun was sinking low in the horizon when my feet finally led me back to the cabin. As I realized where I was, it was too late. Out of habit, I was standing on the porch of Daryl and Merle's cabin. I quickly looked around to make sure nobody had spotted me, but my eyes landed on Daryl, who was sitting on the floor in the corner of the porch. I turned around to leave but he spoke behind me.
"If my brother is the worthless piece of shit you say he is, what does that make me?" Daryl asked.
I slowly turned back around. "I didn't mean to-"
"I don't want to hear it. Just go," he said, defeat in his voice.
"Daryl...." I pleaded.
"No, I said I don't want to hear it," he said once again. I sighed in defeat and made my way back to Hershel's cabin.
When I arrived, Carol was the only one up. I assumed the rest of them were resting while they could. She was sitting on a high chair at the island separating the kitchen and the living room.
"I went to Chris's to check on you after about an hour of you being gone. He said you never made it," Carol said.
"I got sidetracked," I lied. I didn't really want to get into this with Carol right now.
"It's funny that you say that. Especially since you went in the opposite direction of Chris's cabin when you left," Carol said calmly. She was giving me a chance to redeem myself.
"Look, Carol, I didn't want to lie to you. But I don't want anyone in my business right now and I don't want to have to explain myself," I told her, a little irritated. I wasn't in the mood right now, even for Carol.
"Rosaline, I've always admired how well you treated everyone in the group, but right now you're being ridiculous," Carol said, and it sounded a bit like she was scolding me like a child.
"Excuse me? You have no idea what's going on right now so don't tell me that I'm being ridiculous," I shot at her.
"Whatever it is, I know it's between you and Daryl and-"
"Carol, this goes way beyond Daryl and I. This isn't just between us. This is me, Daryl, and Merle. And it's all my fault. So please don't pretend that you know what's going on because you don't," I said sharply.
Carol looked at me, slightly disappointed and a bit angry, and then jumped from the chair and left. I stood there, motionless for a moment. I walked over to the couch and gave a small sigh. This day had been one of the worst since the outbreak.
I laid on the couch, not even bothering to change my clothes. My mind raced and I couldn't seem to quiet it down. Why did you let your temper get the best of you? It was just Merle, after all. Daryl hates you now, there's no doubt about it. You could've saved all this trouble if you'd just told Rick no.
It finally became too much. My mind raced and I jumped from the couch. I took off out the door as fast as I could, making my way through the darkness back to Daryl and Merle's cabin. I jogged up the stairs and knocked on the door.
Merle answered, looking frantic. When he saw me, his expression turned a bit angry but there was also something else there that I couldn't place.
"I'm leaving tomorrow at dawn to go scouting. If you and Daryl are coming get everything ready. I have a feeling we'll be gone for a while," I said, then I turned on my heel and left.
Next I went to Rick and Lori's. I was hoping it wasn't too late to be there but Lori and Rick were sitting on the front porch together so that answered my question.
"Rick, can I have a word with you?" I asked him. He seemed to want to keep the scouting thing a secret earlier so I wasn't about to make him mad now by saying something in front of Lori.
He gestured for me to follow him inside and I did so. He stopped just inside the door but had it closed. "I'm leaving tomorrow at dawn to go scouting. I don't know if Daryl and Merle are coming and it honestly makes no difference to me. I need to get out of here. Clear my head," I told him. He nodded.
"Okay. I'll be up then as well to give you the map. Are you sure you're up to this? If you don't want to do it I can have Glenn, Maggie, and T-Dog go," Rick offered.
"It's fine Rick. Besides, if something were to happen to Maggie or Glenn Hershel would be devastated. I don't have anyone left to care so I might as well go," I told him. Rick shook his head and put his hand on my shoulder.
"The whole group would be devastated if we lost you," he said. I shrugged him off.
"Dawn," I reminded him, then set off back to Hershel's cabin.
Hello readers! I feel like I've lost some of you and if that's the case I'm not sure why! I haven't seen any comments lately. Did I say something that offended someone?
I was wondering what you guys think of a sequel told in Daryl or another character's perspective. Would you like to read it, or not? Why? Let me know what you think because I am mulling around a few ideas in my head about how to end this and if I should write a sequel or not. I think a sequel in Daryl's perspective would be a good idea and know vaguely how it would start. But as, I said, I am thinking things through still. (By the way, this does not mean that I am finishing this story as of, like, tomorrow. I am simply planning ahead. If you have any QUESTIONS on this please feel free to comment below or message me privately. I will get back to you as soon as possible! No comment or message goes unanswered!)
And FYI, I am not looking for suggestions on where the story should go, I am simply looking for your opinion on a sequel. :-)
So, what do you think of the chapter? It's sorta a filler but there will be more action to come.
How do you think the scouting mission will go? What about Rosaline and Daryl? Where will they're relationship be headed? Will Merle and Daryl go with Rosaline? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, don't forget to vote, COMMENT, and fan!
