You were Luke's mother. When Anakin had hurt you, you had been sent into labour. Instead of dying, you lived and went into hiding. So now here you were, hiding on the Death Star while watching the Emperor prepare to strike your son.

As soon as you heard Luke's screams, you knew that you had to do something. Your plan was to just watch, but your own son was about to die.

Without thinking, you jumped in front of him and let the lightning flood through your veins. You screamed, your body writhing in agony, but you pushed through. You barely had enough time to prepare yourself for the next blow before the lightning returned.

"Who are you?" Luke shouted at you, voice barely audible over your screams. "And why did you save me?"

"I'm your mother!" You yelled.

Everybody froze. Luke's eyes widened. Darth Vader turned to look at you.

The Emperor lowered his hands. "I thought you killed her!" He shouted.

Darth Vader ignored him and looked at you. "y/n, why are you here?"

You glared at him. "I'm here to watch what happens when your husband's master tries to kill your son."

Luke gaped. His eyes looked at you, demanding an explanation. You turned to face him. "Sweetie, when your father fell to the Dark Side, he tried to kill me. I tried my best to see the good in him, to turn him back, but he choked me. He called me a traitor. I went into hiding, to never reveal myself to anyone. But hearing your screams broke my heart. It is a mother's only wish, that her children are safe."

The Emperor scoffed at your words. "A mother's only wish? Good in Darth Vader, my apprentice? Don't make me laugh." And he aimed another blast of lightning at you.

You screamed again and again, crying out as blast after blast hit your body. Every blast was bigger than the last, and soon you were close to dying.

Luke noticed this, and yelled at the Emperor. "Don't kill my mother!"

"Why not? She volunteered to take your place, so she shall die! And all of this for love. It's useless, really, protecting the ones you love but not being loved in return." He cackled.

At that, Darth Vader picked up the Emperor and threw him over the edge of the pit. He fell to his death, shouting for help, but there was no reply.

With the Emperor gone, Luke ran over to you. "Mother, you can't die."

"It's my time, sweetie. Someday yours will come, too, and you'll fade just like me. But you will grow up, get married and live a life free from heartbreak, regret and sorrow." You smiled sadly as you stroked his cheek lovingly.

"y/n, if you die, I'll die with you." Darth Vader walked over to you.

"Anakin..." You hugged him as he knelt down beside you. "Don't do that. Turn back to the good side of the Force, and become a Jedi again." You pulled away.

Luke hugged you, tears streaming down his cheeks. "I love you, Mum, though I never got the chance to know you." He kissed your cheek.

"I love you too. Now go, Luke, and fulfil your dream. Become a Jedi, and teach their ways to others." Your eyes started to close.

"No! No, Mother, don't die!" Luke's eyes filled with tears.

"I'm sorry, my love. I'm so sorry." Your eyes finally closed and you felt yourself become lightweight, drifting towards the place where Yoda, Obi Wan, Mace Windu and Qui Gon were waiting for you.
