The ship
With its mast billowing
In the wind
Glides
As if an invisible hand
Is guiding itThe skies are blue
Blue
Like the eyes
That burn holes
In youShe
With all her glory
Blue eyes
And sure smiles
Holds out her pale hand
And says
'Come away with me'You
With a head turned
And a heart
Burned
Hesitate
And then you reach
Your hand out
And touch hers
And you feel aliveShe holds your hand
And as your feet
Lose contact with land
She smiles
A sweet, painful smile
You ask her
'What is it, my love?'
She answers
'You shouldn't have come'You ask why
And she shakes her head
Her eyes soft, and sad
But they do not lie
When she says
'Once you get on the ship
there is no getting off'.
