The internet. We all use it and most likely are addicted to it. The internet gives us the strongest power of speech imaginable. The internet is an equal society where everyone has the same power as everyone else. The internet is the doorway to self proclaimed fame and mass recognition for your work and personality.
The one issue with the internet, is privacy. Your internet connection is constantly being monitored by your ISP (internet service provider) for illegal use or misconduct. Your location and friendship groups are publicly available on social media servers. Facebook have permission to use your camera on your phone and access call history.
The Internet also gives marketing information to companies. What ever you search in google or any other search engine is tracked and recorded so brands can give you advertisements suited to your online behavior. In general speaking terms, your basically giving your life away to corporate minds and intelligence agencies.
Don't be afraid, there are many internet users and the chances of them focusing there attention on you are slim. However they do have the power and resources to do so. The Internets main purpose is to link people together in a quick and easily accessible way, but you leave a large digital footprint that can be tracked, used and modified. Social media claims to only use the data collect to further enhance there services but no one knows whats happening behind the scenes.
When the internet first started, the connection was slow and usually unsafe. With the enhancement of broadband and security you get the ideology that your online activity is secure and your in total control. This is false, in-fact as broadband enhances so does tracking technology. Google updated there privacy statement to gather information on your precise location. PRECISE, this means your address line.
In the future we will see the expansion of the internet, new features. But with this comes more vulnerability on your part.
Overall the internet is dangerous and you should use it with care.
We get monitored everyday and its important to stress that its usually to seek out bad people. So in theory I don't mind having my data taken from me, everyone else has to. The internet has so many benefits and they defiantly out weigh the negatives.
The media use the internet all the time to publish articles in your face, They cheat the system and use fierce marketers who make sure there content meets your searches before anyone else does. So really the internet is not a fair society. Money gives people the powers to top you online, I could type my name in google and someone else with the same name could of paid to be on top of me in the search results. Goodbye my business.
